MUTINY ON BOARD | Arsenal Present and Former Players Respond After Star Midfielder Posts Cryptic And Defiant Message Against Unai Emery

Ozil and Kolasinac, Ozil

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil posted an obscure message on Instagram after Gunners’ 1-0 defeat against BATE Borisov.

Despite his return to training this week, the former German International did not travel to Belarus with his side as Arsenal suffered a 1-0 loss to BATE in the Europa League.

The 30-year-old has only featured for 102 minutes for the Gunners since the turn of the year with Emery stating various reasons like ‘tactical stability’ and ‘illness’ for his blatant absence from the matchday squad.

Ozil was unhappy with his situation and he took to instagram to highlight his frustration.

“When you start supporting a football club, you don’t support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong,”

Ozil wrote on his Instagram account quoting Arsenal legend Denis Bergkamp.

In addition to that the likes and comments were one of the sections in Ozil’s message that attracted most of the attention from the fans.

The likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Alex Iwobi, Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac supported him by liking his post and in addition, former teammates also like, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all came out in support of him by commenting and liking his defiant and rousing message on instagram.

Former Arsenal players including Paul Merson, Dennis Bergkamp and Martin Keown slammed Unai Emery for creating an unhealthy atmosphere in the dressing room by picking a needless fight with their best player on the team and refusing to play him at a time when the team desperate need their best creator out in the field.

When looking at the context of the text, the captain’s armband in the photo, and the timing of the post, it can only be assumed that Ozil is motivated to stay and resume his Arsenal career with or without Emery and is not going anywhere without a fight.

Ozil has been one of the best creators of the beautiful game. Since his arrival in the Premier League, only few players have reached his creative standards. However, unfortunately for him, 2018-19 did not bring him one of the seasons to remember.

Earlier on, he had to make a shocking retirement from the German National team after the World Cup. And after Emery took over at Arsenal, he has been completely isolated and left out of the matchday squad altogether without any concrete apparent reason rather than the manager’s stubbornness.

When looking at Emery’s point of view, it clearly seems like as if he wants to get the £350k-per-week earner off the books just so that he can make room for another bunch of bang average signings and losing the best midfielder in the world in the process.

However, we all can see that the Gunners are lacking in creativity without Ozil. When you take out players like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey along with Ozil, and play the inexperienced and inefficient Alex Iwobi in place of a world cup winning midfielder, you find a team that is unable to create enough chances and hence goes on to suffer its consequences.

‘Arsenal Are Trying To Push Him Into Retirement’ : Former Arsenal Player Makes Stunning Claim About World Cup Winning Arsenal Midfielder

This has been displayed pretty evidently in the Gunners’ recent performances, as they have been unable to score away from home or even look like scoring, with the latest flat out performance being the Gunners’ abysmal defeat to BATE in Belarus, against a team that hasn’t played any form of competitive football for the last one month and a half.

Judging by the reaction of other players to Ozil’s post, it is clear that the dressing room is in a complete disarray at the moment with most choosing to stand in solidarity with Ozil and this may possibly have been one of the essential reasons why Arsenal’s team performances have suffered so drastically in recent times.

In my opinion it is indeed high time that Unai Emery and Mesut Ozil sit down and resolve out the matter inside the dressing room because its pretty clear that the whole environment around Arsenal is getting affected and we have seen many cases in recent times when that simply has not ended well for all parties involved and the party that suffers most as a consequence is the club itself. If not for himself, atleast for the fans and reputation of the club, Unai Emery needs to let go of his stubbornness and resolve this issue with Mesut Ozil once in for all.
