Arsenal Ready To Increase Wage As Club Step Up Efforts To Extend The Contracts Of Two Other Key Players On Arteta’s Demand

Bukayo Saka, William Saliba

According to reports in England, Arsenal are looking to tie down Bukayo Saka and William Saliba to long-term contracts. The North London side have placed the contract extension of these players on priority and are willing to increase their pay packages to do complete them.

The Gunners have recently agreed to a new four-and-a-half year deal with Gabriel Martinelli. Arsenal secured the Brazilian’s extension 18 months before his current contract would have previously expired and he is now tied to the club till 2027.

Arsenal have now shifted their focus to the contracts of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba. Both the youngsters are key first-team starters under Mikel Arteta having shown their pedigree and have earned the right to a similar kind of treatment as Gabriel Martinelli.

Bukayo Saka has been Arsenal’s main threat from the right wing this season. After the injury to Gabriel Jesus, it is the English winger who has picked up the responsibility to trouble the opposition defences. Whereas, the development of William Saliba is the one to be kept an eye on for all football fanatics. He is now one of the starting names on the team sheet on a regular basis.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal have prioritised the contracts of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba. The North London side are trying to tie down both the players to new long-term deals as fast as possible and are prepared to give significant boost to their wages if needed.

The English forward has scored 8 goals and assisted 7 times across all competitions for the Gunners this season so far (stats via Transfermarkt). Given Saka’s performances in the ongoing season, the opponents must be devising plans to stop him somehow, as that way, they get a chance of winning against Arsenal.

The 21-year-old winger has been in the form of his life and should continue to do so considering the way Arteta’s men are playing right now. Moreover, Man City are closely monitoring the youngster’s situation which has certainly prompted the North London side to put more emphasis on his contract extension.

Meanwhile, it would be very hard to believe that this is William Saliba’s first full season at the Emirates. The Gunners signed the Frenchman in 2019 and sent him out on loan for three successive seasons to Ligue 1. The centre-back has become one of the most trusted names on the team-sheet for Arteta.

Following his development at Olympique Marseille last season, Saliba has developed an excellent partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes and has been a rock at the back since the start of the season. The 21-year-old has been instrumental in the North London side’s recent success as they stand at the top of the Premier League table.

Why Bukayo Saka And William Saliba Should Be The First Ones To Receive New Contracts At Arsenal?

As established, Bukayo Saka has become one of the core players at the Emirates. He has become the face of the attacking lineup for the Gunners. He has stepped up in almost every important game for the team this season. Despite being just 21-years of age, the winger has already taken up the responsibility of leading from the front, quite literally.

On the other hand, Arsenal have slowly helped William Saliba to reach the peak of his abilities. After spending three consecutive loan spells, he is finally capable of organising the defence. The Frenchman has shown a lot of maturity for a 21-years-old player. His attitude towards the loan stints was also commendable.

The Gunners are now showing serious potential of being in the Champions League consistently. However, they still need a few extra steps to go from ‘playing’ to ‘winning’ the Champions League. These are the retentions that could help them close the gap, considering the capability of players like Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
