Arsenal register surprise Interest for West Brom’s Jonny Evans

Jonny Evans

Arsenal have made a surprise enquiry for West Brom centre back Jonny Evans according to reports in the Telegraph.

Manchester City and Leicester City have had bids rejected for Evans, with West Brom wanting a fee of around £30 million for the player.

Arsenal had last summer too made an enquiry for Jonny Evans before settling for German centre back Skodran Mustafi in the final weeks of the transfer window.

West Brom have so have rejected two bids from Manchester City for Jonny Evans with one for  £18m.

City are expected to make a third offer worth up to £30 million for Evans today but Arsenal are understood to have enquired about the former Manchester United defender last night.

Arsene Wenger has been tipped to bring in another central defender after selling Gabriel to Valencia while Shkodran Mustafi is also being strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan.

Evans is currently with the Northern Ireland squad ahead of this week’s trip to San Marino, but manager Michael O’Neil will allow him to leave their camp in order to deal with transfer business though they prefer for him to resolve his future before boarding the plane on Thursday.

Evans was also absent from the sundays match day squad for 1-1 draw against Stoke City.

[spacer height=”20px”]

This only serves to provide clear indication that West Brom are resigned to losing him during this window be it to City or Arsenal.

If and only if Wenger does go through with the prospect of selling or loaning Mustafi to Inter Milan as being reported widely by the media all over, only then does this news seem plausible and a necessity in fact after the departure of Gabriel to Valencia.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Even though Tony Pulis has made it abundantly clear that he wishes to keep hold of the former Manchester United Centre back, the prospect of playing for the Premier League big guns once again might be too tempting to resist for the lad.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Expect him to leave and his future to be sorted out within the next 24 hours.

Till the next update and watch this space for more

Come on you Gooners !!!!!
