Arsenal Suffer Major Setback as Premier League Club Offer £45m Target to Rival Club

Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City

In a shocking news to Arsenal, Manchester City have offered Gabriel Jesus to Chelsea. The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian striker in the past few weeks. Even transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Jesus is a top priority signing on Arsenal’s transfer list. Signing a striker has been Arsenal’s top priority since the January transfer window.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Erling Braut Haaland. Moreover, the Citizens secured the signing of River Plate striker Julian Alvarez in January, but the Argentine stiker was immediately sent back on loan. Jesus leaving the Etihad in the summer has been imminent for a while but the recent signing of the two strikers at City made it a certainty.

The 25-year-old striker has not been happy at City throughout the last season although we have seen stints of good performances. He was being frequently played on the right-hand side despite being a number 9. Moreover, he was not involved as much as he would have liked. At some moments, Pep Guardiola preferred to play with no striker in his lineup rather than using the Brazilian.

The Gunners confirmed that Alexandre Lacazette has left the club, joining Lyon in a free transfer and they are in desperate need of a replacement. The North London side have been in direct contact with the Jesus’ representatives and they look ready to make him the new number 9 at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the Blues reportedly are among the latest contenders for the signature of the Brazilian forward. Timo Werner has underperformed at Chelsea with his poor finishing. Romelu Lukaku on the other hand has failed to pay the dividends of his big-money move to Stamford Bridge last summer.

As reported by The Telegraph (via Metro), Manchester City want to accelerate the process to sell Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus and have hence offered him to Chelsea. The Blues will not have an issue with the transfer as opposed to the Gunners. Thomas Tuchel plans to buy a new striker after wanting to let Romelu Lukaku go just 12 months after signing the player.

What Could Be The Best Choice For Gabriel Jesus?

Both Arsenal and Chelsea remain very tempting offers for Gabriel Jesus. However, Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffside that there are five clubs in contact with the Brazilian. A move to Chelsea could be tempting considering the fact that they will offer Champions League football. The Blues do create a lot of chances which will make it easier for him to score more goals. Nevertheless, he will face tough competition to be in the starting lineup.

On the other hand, Jesus will be one of the core players at the Emirates. However, the striker may not want to go from a trophy-winning side to a non-Champions League club. But the Blues also have Champions League football qualification to attract other transfer targets, so Jesus might have to settle for Arsenal.

Arsenal are currently going through a rebuilding phase. This means that Gabriel Jesus will be one of the main players in the Arsenal squad. He won’t have the tough competition that he will face at Stamford Bridge to start games. In addition, he may be allowed a few below-average performances and still retain his place in the starting line-up. This could be good for his confidence throughout the season even while facing big clubs.

Chelsea may suffer a bit next season after facing ownership issues recently. They have failed to renew the contracts of some players and now their squad is looking thin. This can punish them next season during fixture congestion due to a lack of squad depth. Whereas, Arsenal have found a rhythm themselves near the end of their season and could attract quite a few players because Mikel Arteta looks to have a proper plan. However, the final decision completely lies with the Brazilian striker.
