Arsenal Extensively Tracking €35m Rated Danish Winger, Planning Summer Swoop for Bundesliga Star

Jesper Lindstrom

Reports in Germany suggest that Arsenal are considering making a move for Frankfurt attacker Jesper Lindstrom in the 2023 summer transfer window. However, they may encounter tough competition from Brentford, and will need to pay a substantial transfer fee.

Jesper Lindstrom has had another productive season so far, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances (stats via Transfermarkt). In the previous season, he had acquired 5 goals and 5 assists in 29 league games.

The Danish winger is already a fan favourite at the German club, having helped them win the Europa League last season. He has also registered his name in Frankfurt’s history books after scoring the club’s first ever Champions League goal, during the club’s first ever win in the competition, a 1-0 away win over Olympique Marseille.

According to German publication Sport1 (via Metro), Arsenal are very interested in signing Jesper Lindstrom. The Gunners are tracking him extensively and are looking at a summer swoop. The club has been searching for a right winger since last summer to provide cover and competition for Bukayo Saka, and the Dane perfectly fits the bill.

However, Frankfurt are expected to demand a big fee for Lindstrom, who is contracted to them until 2026. The report suggests that it would take an offer of around €35 million (£31m) to convince the German side to sell, which is a high price for a player who would likely play a rotational role initially.

Meanwhile, Premier League side Brentford are also keen on signing the 22-year-old. Despite not playing in Europe, he would be open to joining the Bees as five of Lindstrom’s international teammates play there while their manager, Thomas Frank, is also Danish.

Player Profile

Frankfurt signed Jesper Lindstrom in the summer of 2021 for just €7 million, and despite his height of 1.82m, he has been a standout player for both club and country. He has clear talent and a high ceiling, as evidenced by his recognition in the national media with several “Team Of The Week” appearances.

The 22-year-old is comfortable playing with both feet and can switch between them effortlessly, making him unpredictable for defenders. He is a high-volume dribbler who can progress the ball well, especially in attacking transitions.

The Denmark international also has a knack for innovative dribbling that can create shooting opportunities for himself or his teammates. He can play as a central play-maker or winger, making him a versatile option that has caught the eye of several scouts.

Although Lindstrom has room for improvement, particularly with his accuracy in front of goal, he has already proven to be a valuable asset for Frankfurt. He can play multiple positions, and the team can build around him and develop other young talents to push for European football.
