Claims of Rolls Royce like Appearances but With the Upholstery of a Ford Escort and all the Judgement of a Renault Cleo Owner: Is This What Arsenal are?

Mikel Arteta, January transfer window, arsenal loan transactions, arsedevils, Burnley, Arteta

Arsenal supporters aren’t exactly impressed by the clubs clumsy loan transactions in the transfer window.

Well let’s be honest, it looked like Arsenal were going to get through this transfer window without spending a bean but at last fans have news of at least one loan signing in Pablo Mari from Brazilian club Flamingo and another short term solution in the form of Cedric Soares from Southampton.

Both are loan deals until the end of the season and are reportedly said to be costing around the £5m mark each, although there is no official confirmation of the values.

Arsenal have been in various negotiations with agents and players and they apparently adopted a distinctly blunt and inflexible approach which saw a number of options close and collapse rather quickly.

In the case of Mari, Arsenal tried to exert pressure on the Brazilian club for a more favourable and cheaper loan deal, with the Brazilian club preferring the player was sold off.

The deal stalled at one point leaving Arsenal empty handed and having to reopen the discussions with a softer, less dictatorial attitude.

An unnamed director of Mari’s club couldn’t hide his anger and according to the Metro, said :

“We had agreed to sell for a fee, arrived in London, Arsenal changed the terms.

Flamengo is a serious club.”

Arsenal also wanted to avoid a compulsory purchase clause in case the player didn’t meet their standard.

Yes, you know, the standard that has seen them concede 34 goals in 24 games, at an average of just over 1.41 every game.
The same amount of goals that Brighton have conceded and which has them currently precariously hovering over the relegation zone in 15th place just five points behind the gunners.

Somebody get the Arsenal board stronger coffee and seek treatment for them on the grounds of delusional behaviour.

Raul Sanllehi will probably claim that this window was a success and that the club acted appropriately to cover key areas of concern, but the majority of fans will be unimpressed with the shilly shally, low aspiration antics of a club that claims to have Rolls Royce appearances but with the upholstery of a Ford Escort and all the judgement of a Renault Cleo owner.

Barren Spell or not, This is why Lacazette Needs to Keep Starting in Front of the Goal for Arsenal

If this is how they behave now, what chance of the proposed move for Dayot Upamecano in the summer ?

I doubt RB Leipzig will want to deal with any individuals with the scruples and flair for business of Bernie Madoff.

Perhaps it’s indicative of Arsenal’s second tier status that they conduct their dealings out of the back of a van with one eye looking out for the police.

Yes, they spent heavily in the summer but they had previously appointed a coach that couldn’t ask for a toilet roll and had the charisma of a dead fish.

Mistakes are what Arsenal are currently known for and their continuous errors of judgement have seen them slide down the league quicker than a scantily dressed female on a pole in a strip club.

It’s also quite astonishing that the rumours of Thomas Lemar’s arrival still persist because of Arsenal aren’t committing to anything other than loan deals, what is there to suggest that they can afford the Frenchman’s left foot ?

They let Bruno Guimaraes slip through their chubby and sweaty little fingers to Lyon and had never had any genuine intention of bolstering the squad anymore than was absolutely necessary.
