Arsenal vs Tottenham: The Line-up That’ll Deliver Emery’s First North London Derby Win

Tottenham Vs Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal take on their noisy neighbours Tottenham Hotspur in a Sunday blockbuster at the Emirates, in what would be a mouth-watering clash between two of the London’s best clubs with Unai Emery in-charge of his first North London derby.

Just 3 points separate the two sides in the table and both will be hoping to take all 3 points from the game on Sunday. The Gunners have the chance to get level with Tottenham with a win, whilst Spurs are on a mission to extend their lead over their rivals.

Emery’s side have finished behind their neighbours in twice in the last two seasons, but are currently keeping up the pace after a run of 11 league fixtures without defeat.

Arsenal:

The Emirates outfit are on a good run in the Premier League and haven’t tasted defeat for a while now. They won at Bournemouth after drawing 3 games, and will be raring to go against Spurs.

They sit just a point outside the top four with more than a third of the season gone. There are still some questions over Arsenal’s performances against big clubs, but their display vs Liverpool proved otherwise.

The Londoners have a busy December with some key fixtures creeping in, as they travel to Old Trafford midweek. These run of fixtures will surely determine their depth have and the ability to perform big time.

Emery’s side needs to put together a decent performance to ensure they do not disappoint their fans in this crucial game, as this game is more than just 3 points for everyone involved with the club.

Team news:
Alexandre Lacazette should be fit to start after missing last game with a minor groin injury. Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny are still out with injuries. This paves the way for Rob Holding to keep his place with Shkodran Mustafi at the back.

Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin should keep their places as fullbacks after impressing last weekend with Bernd Leno in goal.

We shall see the Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira pivot and Mesut Ozil in midfield. Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang, Alex Iwobi are expected to feature with Henrikh Mkhitaryan on bench.

Predicted Lineup:

Tottenham:

The Lilly Whites’ current six-match winning streak already includes three London derby victories and two crucial Champions League triumphs, but claiming a win over their arch rivals would be sweet.

Spurs handed Chelsea their first defeat of the season winning 3-1, and are in a very good position coming into this clash against their arch rivals.

Victory would give Mauricio Pochettino’s side their highest-ever points total after 14 games of a Premier League season and would also see them equal their club record of winning six successive Premier League away matches.

They sit five points behind leaders Manchester City and are looking lethal with their key players Harry Kane, Dele Alli performing well in last couple of weeks.

But it won’t be easy for them at the Emirates with the crowd cheering the home side making life difficult for them, and it remains to been seen how the Tottenham players respond to it.

Team news:

Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen and Kieran Trippier are available to start, alongside Son Heung-min, who should also make the starting XI after impressing against Chelsea.

Christian Eriksen has been managed carefully amid concerns over a stomach problem and came off the bench to score the winner against Inter Milan, but the Danish international should be available for this from start.

Predicted Lineup:

Head to Head:

Arsenal surely have an edge over Tottenham as they have won 8 times with their rivals beating them at 6 occasions. They played out a draw in 5 games.

It still can’t be concluded whether a power shift has been triggered, but Sunday’s game will surely have a say in all debates that occur when these two sides are in picture.

Prediction:

Both sides have looked impressive in their recent run of games and both will give all they have in their lockers in this huge clash, but the pendulum is swinging towards the men in Red and White. Playing at the Emirates, expecting Arsenal to sneak a 2-1 victory.
