Arsenal are on the verge of signing midfielder Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona this transfer window, according to reports in Italian media.
Unai Emery is eager to bring one or two players to the Emirates during the winter transfer window, but don’t have enough money to spend until the summer.
The 25-year-old moved to Camp Nou from Villarreal in 2015 but this season he has played just 221 minutes of football in all competitions, and only 17 minutes in LaLiga.
The Gunner’s boss is an admirer of the Spanish international having worked previously with him at Sevilla, and Barcelona are interested in listening to offers for the midfielder.
The north London club would like to sign the player on loan at the moment, but the Blaugrana want to sell the player permanently and other clubs have also expressed interest in the Spaniard.
Denis Suarez is thought to be the replacement of out-of-contract midfielder Aaron Ramsey who is said to have agreed a pre-contract with Juventus this January.
Arsenal are also keen to sign other central defensive options in this window but the Gunners will need to trim their wage budget before bringing in any new players in January.
Denis Suarez was a revelation at his solitary season at Villareal that made Barcelona exercising their buy-back clause. He was given the iconic number 6 jersey that was worn by club legend Xavi and was thought be the heir of Iniesta.

Unfortunately, things did not pan out his way as he only managed 12 starts in La Liga in his first season back at Camp Nou and Real Madrid won La Liga that season with Luis Enrique losing his job.
New coach Ernesto Valverde did not favour the Spanish international and he has struggled to find a starting spot under him.
On the other side, Arsenal did some shrewd signings in the summer transfer window, but have found it tough to tie down Aaron Ramsey to a new deal and now they are losing one of their best players.
The situation is very important to both, Denis Suarez and Arsenal, because Arsenal would like to get the Spaniard integrate into the team, adjust himself to the Premier League and consolidate his spot in the starting-11. On the other hand, the 25-year-old would love to work with Emery and give a new start to his career.
However, the risk is for Arsenal to take because it will be tough for Denis Suarez to adjust according to the Premier League and find his form. But if he fulfils his potential under Emery, he will be interesting to watch.
