4-2-3-1 | Crucial Injury Boost For Arsenal as Torreira, Ozil And Lacazette Start | How Arsenal Will Lineup To Secure All Three Points Against Southampton

Arsenal Vs Southampton, Southampton

Arsenal Vs Southampton Match Preview:

After defeating BATE Borisov 3-0 in the second leg of their Europa League fixture, the Gunners now face relegation battling Saints at The Emirates Stadium in the Arsenal Vs Southampton game of the Premier League in Matchweek 27. The Gunners have a great chance to slip into the top four as fourth placed Manchester United face Liverpool and could potentially drop points.

Team News:

Alexandre Lacazette will be available for selection after he served his one game ban. Captain Laurent Koscielny however, is a doubt after being injured in the Europa League encounter.

Sokratis returned midweek and scored Arsenal’s third against BATE. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also recovering from weakness and will be assessed before the Arsenal Vs Southampton game. Apart from that, Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin are the only players unavailable due to long term injures.

Predicted Lineup:

Goalkeeper:

No doubt, Bernd Leno will start for the Gunners in goal. I don’t think we could see a change in goal for Arsenal until the end of the season.

Centerbacks and Full Backs:

The Gunners backline were able to get a rare clean sheet in the Europa League game against Bate Borisov earlier this week and will be eyeing another one against 18th placed Southampton. With Koscielny being a major doubt, I think it would make more sense to have the same back four combination as the last game with Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis playing centrally.

As Maitland-Niles is still recovering, Stephan Lichtsteiner would retain his position at right back. Nacho Monreal could well keep his place at left back in a back four formation.

Midfield:

Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira will start in central midfield for The Gunners in what should look like a 4-2-3-1. Youngster Matteo Guendouzi has played a lot recently and could deservedly be given some rest this week.

Mesut Ozil finally played after a long time as Arsenal got an easy 3-0 victory on Thursday. Emery is under immense pressure from the fans after the team’s drop in form post dropping Ozil. So the Spaniard will have to start the German midfielder for the Arsenal Vs Southampton game on Sunday as well.

Forwards:

Alexandre Lacazette will return after serving suspension and will once again lead the Gunners’ attack in the Arsenal Vs Southampton fixture. And along either side of Mesut Ozil, will be the Gabonese goal machine Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Alex Iwobi and new signing Denis Suarez could well feature early into the second half of the Arsenal Vs Southampton match.

Prediction For The Arsenal Vs Southampton Game:

Southampton are struggling to survive in the top flight and Arsenal aren’t the easiest side to beat at home. So I believe, Arsenal should get a routine 2-0 victory over The Saints in the Arsenal Vs Southampton contest.

  1. Arsenal kann es sich nicht leisten, seinen bestbezahlten Spieler nicht zu spielen.

Höchste Zeit, Emery erkennt dies und konzentriert sich darauf, das Team um Mesut Ozil aufzubauen.
