Arsenal vs Tottenham : Team News, Predicted lineup and Prediction ahead of the first NLD of the season

Arsenal Vs Tottenham Match Preview

We look forward to another big game on Sunday as Arsenal host their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the first North London Derby of the season. The Gunners go into the Arsenal Vs Tottenham game after a 3-1 loss against European Champions Liverpool, while Spurs ride on the back of a 1-0 home loss against Newcastle last weekend dropping three valuable points. With Aubameyang and Harry Kane both being finishing as the highest scorer in the league last season, odds are overwhelmingly in their favour to score in this much fancied encounter. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the strongest bookie favourite to be first goalscorer at 7/2, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane 4/1.

Arsenal Vs Tottenham Team News

The Gunners will be without defenders Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin and Konstantinos Mavropanos for the game. Summer signing Kieran Tierney is also expected to return to training at the end of next month. Mesut Ozil might return to the Arsenal bench for the Arsenal Vs Tottenham fixture after having minor fitness issues.

Tottenham have received fresh injury blows and will be without Kyle Walker-Peters, Juan Foyth, Ryan Sessegnon and new signing Tanguy Ndombele, while Eric Dier also remains a doubt.

Arsenal Vs Tottenham Betting Prediction

While it cannot get any bigger than the North London Derby for the two teams, it can certainly get more interesting when you place a bet. Betting companies have lots of bonuses and promotions during a derby or an arch rivalry match. One such massive promotion is being offered by Fansbet. Fansbet offers a variety of odds for betting enthusiasts such as odds of a team winning a match or a player scoring the first goal. For the Arsenal Vs Tottenham game, odds of 28/17 are in favour of the Gunners of winning the game. Bookmaker 888Sport has 11/8 (2.38) odds in favour of Arsenal to win the match. Tottenham are not in great form and have a lot of injury problems going into the North London Derby. Moreover, Arsenal are usually very good at home, especially under Emery and I think Arsenal might emerge victorious on this occasion. I predict a 2-1 victory for the Gunners.

Arsenal Predicted Lineup

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Arsenal Predicted Lineup Vs Tottenham

GK: Bernd Leno will start in goal for the Gunners. The keeper has just received a German National side call-up and is certainly one of the first names on Arsenal’s team sheet.

LB: Kieran Tierney will return to full training next month. Until then, Nacho Monreal remains the first choice left back for Unai Emery. There has been some speculation about Monreal’s return to Spain, but with Tierney’s unavailability, the Spanish International might have to wait until January.

LCB: David Luiz will make his third start in Arsenal colours this weekend. The Brazilian has had a mixed start to his short Arsenal career so far, having looked very good against Burnley, but a little sloppy against Liverpool last week. Having said that, it remains certain that Luiz will be an important figure and a leader in the Arsenal dressing room this season.

RCB: Sokratis has been one of the most consistent players for Arsenal ever since he has joined the club. With him and Luiz, this would be one of the most experienced central defender pairing Arsenal have had going into a North London Derby. The duo will have to be at the best of their game against the likes of Harry Kane, Son and Christian Eriksen if the Gunners are to get the three points from the Arsenal Vs Tottenham fixture.

RB: Ainsley Maitland-Niles, a makeshift right-back in Hector Bellerin’s absence last season has now cemented his place in the starting lineup. The Arsenal Academy graduate is really good at using the depth of the pitch and getting into wide areas, something Arsenal will need a lot against Tottenham.

LCM: Granit Xhaka will start in central midfield for the Gunners. The Gunners captain has had minor injury issues recently, but Arsenal will need his brilliance in midfield against their mighty neighbours. Xhaka is one of the best passers in the Premier League and also has the ability of producing rare moments of magic in a game with his long range efforts.

RCM: Lucas Torreira produced a Man of the Match performance and scored his first Arsenal goal in this fixture last season. He has not yet started for Arsenal this season after returning from International duty, but the Uruguayan could get his first start in the Arsenal Vs Tottenham fixture following his consolation goal against Liverpool last week.

AM: Mesut Ozil is yet to play a minute for Arsenal this season, which rules out a start for the former German International in the Arsenal Vs Tottenham game. So, loan signing Dani Ceballos will play as Arsenal’s attacking midfielder against Spurs. Ceballos has impressed in his first few Arsenal appearances and has certainly become a fan favourite after his brilliant performance against Burnley.

LW: Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang started centrally for Arsenal against Liverpool, a bait that did not work out well in the end. Last season’s Premier League top scorer has good memories of this fixture, where he scored an incredible brace in a 4-2 victory for the Gunners. Aubameyang will switch to the left wing for this game.

RW: One of the positives from Arsenal’s visit to Anfield last weekend was the performance of their record signing Nicolas Pepe. Pepe created a lot of chances on the counter and looked very sharp, creating problems for Robertson and Virgil van Dijk. Arsenal will need more of that against Tottenham, so Pepe will surely start on the right wing for Arsenal.

ST: Alexandre Lacazette was disappointed after being benched against Liverpool. The Frenchman will certainly start up front for this game though, after Unai Emery spoke about the possibility of starting the trio of Pepe, Aubameyang and Lacazette together in the Arsenal Vs Tottenham tie. Lacazette is a hungry striker always looking to score against big teams and this would be a perfect game for him to start.
