Analysing Arteta’s Possible Backroom Staff as Fresh Overhaul Behind the Scenes Begins at Arsenal

These are testing, yet interesting times for Arsenal and their supporters. Having suffered a false dawn under Unai Emery despite a decent cash injection, the introduction of Mikel Arteta may add a dash of extra spice to the proceedings.

It’s safe to assume that he won’t be welcomed with open arms by a number of senior players because of his age and lack of experience but at least that may help him weed out the dross and the driftwood to get Arsenal flowing again.

In a previous article I indicated that only Lacazette, Guendouzi, Pepe, Martinelli, Leno and Tierney would survive and that apart from a few additions in the summer, Arteta will look to the collection of riches from inside the Arsenal and Manchester City academies. Moreover with major bookies like online betting NJ predicting probable departures for a number of first team stars in as early as January, it will be interesting to see how new coach head coach deals with the situation at hand.

January is all about defensive cover by bringing in a partner for William Saliba plus a possible loan.

Once the season ends there may be up to four incoming players as the Spaniard rips out the old and unsalvageable and begins bolstering the midfield with a hardworking and creative duo.

Much will be made of Dani Ceballos who’s future seems uncertain but that’s a topic which is incredibly premature under the circumstances.

Then there’s is the ongoing Ozil conundrum which is surely in its final chapter with the player unable to find the form that once made him one of the most watchable talents in the World.

Arteta’s arrival may also signal changes to the backroom staff and its thought the Spaniard is keen to bring Rodolfo Borrell with him.

Borrell was coach to Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta and he was appointed Liverpool’s Technical Director and Head of Coaching for the academy by Rafa Benitez

There’s also a rumour that Arteta is also interested in luring Sam Fagbemi away from his position as City’s Head of youth scouting.

Fagbemi has been tasked with finding the next big thing and has so far been responsible for the additions of Josh WIlson-Eshbrand from West Ham, Ben Knight from Ipswich, and former Millwall duo Sam Edozie and Darko Gyabi and at just 25 years of age, his future looks assured.

City will be incredibly irritated by the prospect of losing all three and the compensation package could be sizeable but if Arteta manages to pull it off, it could be sensational for the gunners.

Anti Kroenke , anti Gazidis but always a gooner. Still wishes he could watch from the stands at the Highbury library.
