£34 million Rated Star Pressing for a Manchester United Transfer in The Summer Transfer Window

Kieran Trippier, United, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal

According to reports, Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier is pressing for a transfer to Manchester United in this transfer window. The Red Devils are keen on signing the £34 million (€40 million) rated English right-back this summer and it looks like the player is also pining for a move back to England.

Solskjaer currently has Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot in his team for the right-back role. However, AWB lacks attacking prowess in his game. Recently, QPR striker Charlie Austin, who scored a goal in their 4-2 win over Man Utd, said in an interview on Talksport:

“Although Manchester United have signed [Raphael] Varane, their biggest problem is they need a right-back.”

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not up to the [required] quality. We played them the other day, and I know it was only a pre-season friendly, but they need to go all out for Kieran Trippier.”

Diogo Dalot is young and has potential but can only be used occasionally as a squad player. Also, Diogo Dalot’s future at the club is uncertain, as AC Milan wants the player for another season-long loan. However, the player could stay and act as a cover for AWB if a move for Trippier does not materialise.

Kieran Trippier has been an absolute phenomenon at Atletico Madrid during the last two years. Despite facing a ten-match ban last season, he came back, set the ground running immediately. He played a very important role in Atletico Madrid’s LaLiga title win last season, recording 6 assists to his name. The player was also crucial to Gareth Southgate’s side at the Euro 2020 Championship.

According to reports from the Telegraph, Kieran Trippier believes a transfer to Manchester United will happen this summer and is ready to wait until the end of the transfer window for the move to happen. The English club have already spent around £110 million to secure Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. Solskjaer needs to sell some players to facilitate new signings. Trippier is aware of this and is prepared to sit and wait.

Kieran Trippier has a £34m (€40m) release clause, according to Spanish outlet Marca, and Atletico Madrid are not willing to cut down on this price. The Spanish side have already rejected multiple bids from the Red Devils and informed them that the only way to sign the player is by triggering the release clause and paying the full amount.

The 30-year-old full-back has two more years left on his contract and is eager for a move back to the Premier League. A return to England with the Red Devils would be a dream transfer for the veteran who has plenty of experience in the Premier League while playing for Tottenham. The player’s family is settled in England, and there were reports last month that they were on the hunt for houses in the Manchester area.

Trippier would offer a lot of versatility to Ole’s side. The player has more experience than AWB and offers a greater threat while going forward during attacks and in set-pieces. He can also adequately play the left-back role, as he has done so several times in the past as well as for England during the Euro 2020. Wan-Bissaka can learn a lot under the guidance of Trippier and hopefully improve his attacking game.

Moreover, Trippier’s arrival at Old Trafford would see him add to the list of home-grown talent in the squad, which includes the likes of Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire and Henderson. Manchester United have looked weak on the right flank in the past, and two goals in their recent loss to QPR came from the right side. However, with the arrival of Sancho on the right wing and the possible arrival of Trippier in the right-back position, things could improve drastically.
