It’s Unthinkable – Aubameyang in Line for a Move to one of Three Premier League Rivals

Aubameyang, Aubameyang transfer, summer transfer window, Darren Bent

It’s one thing to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona, but it’s entirely another to sell him to one of three English clubs that comprise half of the top six places in the Premier League. Manchester City and Manchester United are now joined by Chelsea, all interested in the striker’s services for around the £50m mark, once the transfer window comes around.

It’s a coincidence that Robin Van Persie has just popped up in the press to rake over the smouldering coals of his transfer to Arsenal’s arch-rivals Manchester United in 2012, but its a reminder of Arsenal’s inability to hold on to its major stars and says a lot about where they currently are in competitive terms in domestic and world football.

Charlie Nicholas said of Aubameyang’s possible move:

“The weakness of Arsenal to deliver contracts is what terrifies me more than anything. My gut feeling is that he will be sold to allow the restructure of Mikel Arteta’s team”

So many seasons have heaped misery on the fans as one by one, the club’s prized assets are snapped up by the big money, high rolling, cash splashing clubs. Van Persie’s departure was extremely bitter from a fan’s perspective with so many seasons interrupted by injuries, only then for him to have one stunning season in Red and White before he left to fulfill his ambitions elsewhere.

It doesn’t matter about the finer points, who should have done what and all those minute details of meetings and discussions that Van Persie now thinks are important. He left for a rival, at the time Arsenal’s main rival and he presented Sir Alex Ferguson with another Premier League trophy by scoring 26 goals after his best season in North London with 30 goals.

It all feels awkwardly familiar as Aubameyang prepares to leave and take his goal-scoring abilities with him and it feels no less like finding your girlfriend in bed with you best mate. The situation only made worse by a group of rivals that are vying for his talent. If a move to any Premier League club goes ahead, it will be at the expense of trophies and a possible champions league position in the table.

Aubameyang is yet another in a long line of Arsenal captains to be tempted by the lure of success and money and with recent comments by Gabon FA president Pierre Alain Mounguengui regarding his position at Arsenal, keeping him seems highly unlikely. Plus are already said to be looking at prospective replacements for Aubameyang by a scouting a number of players including Celtic FC’s french striker Odsonne Edouard.

Are Arsenal the one-stop-shop for emerging and established talent for other clubs to prey on? Is there no resolve at the Emirates to build another successful team because there’s no ambition behind the boardroom doors?

Is Slippery Stan Kroenke About to Become the Owner That Arsenal Fans Have Always Cried out for

We are tired of hearing about Kroenke’s business model and their appetite for success and to be quiet honest, no one believes them anymore if they ever did.

Selling Aubameyang is one thing, selling him to another Premier League club will open up all sorts of wounds that never really healed. Arsenal should not and must not sell Aubameyang to any of the aforementioned three clubs – Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea, but the player himself will have the final say. Let’s hope that he can’t see himself in another colour shirt like Van Persie claimed before he left!

Stay safe. Stay tuned!

Anti Kroenke , anti Gazidis but always a gooner. Still wishes he could watch from the stands at the Highbury library.
