Manchester United In Talks With Barcelona to Secure £117 million Striker Deal In The Summer

Marcus Rashford

Barcelona have not entirely given up hope on signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, according to reports in Spain. The Spanish club had been linked to Rashford for a long time now.

The Catalan giants are well aware that securing the young forward’s signature would be a ridiculously hard task. United have not inserted a buy-out clause in his current contract, meaning they dictate the price at which they will be willing to let him go.

According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, a massive fee in the region of £117 million could be demanded from Barca to even stand a chance at signing him. United have also been keen to tie Rashford down to a new contract in recent weeks. It is said that there has been a breakthrough in negotiations as well. If the deal does go through and the new contract is signed, his asking price could even jump to a massive £200 million.

It is hard to argue against that fee. Rashford is one of the world’s most promising youngsters and will be crucial to Manchester United for years to come. The forward is rapidly improving with each game and will definitely be a world beater some day.

Rashford has really started to find himself this season. Despite his initial struggles at the beginning of the campaign having been left devoid of all confidence by Jose Mourinho, he has completely turned his season around. The arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager has got him back on track and he is in the form of his life at the moment.

Everything he touches seems to turn to gold. He has ousted Romelu Lukaku, who has been relegated to the bench, to become the club’s main striker. He is on course to have his best return of goals and assists in a single campaign to date.

He currently sits on 10 goals and 8 assists in 32 appearances so far, with plenty more sure to come before the end of the season. He has also formed a brilliant understanding with Paul Pogba in recent weeks.

If he does keep this up, it will be impossible for other clubs to sign him for a fee lower than £100 million. Real Madrid have also supposedly shown an interest in him, but it remains unlikely that United would even consider selling Rashford, no matter the price.
