Manchester United is in need of a centre-back who can lead the team from the defense and Jerome Boateng is a perfect match for such a role. Old Trafford last witnessed such a leadership in defense during the Sir Alex Ferguson era when Vidic and Ferdinand played the role of leaders from the defense and were glorious for the Red Devils on various occasions. United boss Jose Mourinho is in need of such a back-line that can play a very decisive and instrumental role in winning matches for United in the coming 2018-19 season.

The former Manchester City player will be allowed to go leave, if Bayern Munich get proper price for him. According to sources, Bayern Munich is expects at least 50 million Euros for Jerome Boateng. Meanwhile, reports from The Sun suggests that Manchester United has offered Anthony Martial to Bayern Munich for the 2014 World Cup winner. What effect this will have on bayern munich betting odds is unclear…

Anthony Martial, who has less than a year left on his contact, has earlier shown signs of dissatisfaction with the club following his lack of game time and frequent issues with manager Jose Mourinho with the latest being his late arrival for training has Martial’s future in doubts. [spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Martial was not selected in the FIFA World Cup squad which later went on to win the World Cup at Russia 2018. The 22 year-old left the pre-season tour of the United States to attend the birth of his son and later took an extended off from training and this got Jose Mourinho frustrated. Martial later tweeted this Thursday:

[spacer height=”30px”]

”Sorry but my family will always come first…Back tomorrow in Manchester.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

Martial has been linked with the Bundesliga Champions ever since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in last January from Arsenal and he has not been the first choice for Mourinho. Martial has only made 5 starts in the previous Premier League season since the arrival of Sanchez.

It was earlier reported that Bayern were interested in the 22 year old French national but now they look disinterested to sign the winger.

[spacer height=”30px”]

According to Bling, Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stated that Anthony Martial is not a target for Bayern Munich. Rummenigge was quoted as saying:

”We have four wingers: Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Kingsley Coman , and Serge Gnarby. And Alphonso Davies will also join in January. You must not overdo it like some clubs do, or you create problem for the coach.”

Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain, who always seem to spend more money have been looking to sign the 6’ 4’’ defender since the opening of the summer transfer window. After making a world record signing of Neymar from Barcelona last summer and the World Cup winner and teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe, they seem to spend again towards getting a world-class defender.

Moreover, The Bayern CEO Rummenigge has confirmed PSG’s interest on Jerome Boateng. He said:

“At the moment there is no direct contact between the clubs. But there is contact between his agents and PSG.

[spacer height=”20px”]

“We have to wait, if we could find a basis for a transfer.

[spacer height=”20px”]

“Now we have to wait and see whether, at the end of the day, we find a basis on which we can agree on a transfer.

[spacer height=”20px”]

“We have to find a transfer fee that would be acceptable for both.”

United must carry out the deal before the Ligue 1 champions does before the transfer window ends on August 9 for Premier League teams.

Manchester United has simultaneously been pursuing to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur. Reports claim that Spurs have asked for about 70 million Euros for him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

After getting into limelight for his performances in the FIFA World Cup 2018 for England, Leicester City are demanding 65 million Euros for Harry Maguire and Manchester United seemed interested in him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

However, the Red Devils have reportedly agreed a deal with Barcelona for the Colombian defender Yerry Mina. Reports claim that the defender has agreed personal terms with United, but Barcelona are yet to come to terms on a transfer fee.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Manchester United has always encouraged young talent and has nurtured many academy players to become fine footballers. Rashford and Lingard are prime examples of that. The recent signing of the teenage Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot from Porto is also a great addition to the team because such young players can give a lot to the team over a period of time.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Speaking from the heart of a diehard Manchester United fan, pursuing and signing players who are in late twenties or early thirties is not a good move by Manchester United. It is true that experience too counts but giving proper exposure to young players too will yield the same result. As Mourinho said in his previous interview that he is looking to sign a couple of good players and I hope they play a major role in the title chase for United the coming season and bring back the glory days at Old Trafford.
