Arsenal have reportedly rejected two bids from Leicester City for English Centre back Calum Chambers believed to be in the region of £20m according to BBC Sports

Having previously been prepared to let the England under 21 international centre back leave, Arsene Wengers seems to have had a change of heart probably due to selling of Gabriel to Valencia.

Chambers joined the Gunners in the summer of 2014 for £16million from Southampton but after a bright start he slipped down the pecking order and was at loan ot Middlesbrough last season.

The report states that the bids were made wednesday evening and have fallen short of the 27m valuation of the player that Arsenal hold.

Previously Wenger seemed to have told him to look for chances elsewhere, having been unable to guarantee him a place at centre back in the starting line up in the team.

Now BBC David Ornstein reports that Wenger wants to keep Calum Chambers and will not let him leave short of their 27m valuation of the player.

Chambers told by #AFC end of last season no guaranteed place, door open, offers welcome. A month ago all change – Wenger wanted to keep him

Seems like the English centre back will stay with us for this season.

Wenger might be looking to play Calum Chambers in the Europa League and Cup games this season with Gabriel being sold off already.

That has left us with 5 recognized centre back in a system of three centre backs at the back. Probably a wise decision from the boss.
