Everything That Happened In United’s Lucky Last Gasp Win Against Bournemouth

Bournemouth Vs Manchester United, Bournemouth

Manchester United and Bournemouth played entertaining Premier League fixture at Dean Court on Saturday afternoon, visitors made another comeback win by finishing it off by 2-1.

The way the game started and the way the game ended, it seemed like they were two different sets of games with 4 different sets of teams. The form of Bournemouth clearly showed the gulf why Mourinho is constantly whining about his squad not being good enough.

Bournemouth broke the deadlock with Callum Wilson getting on the score sheet on the 11th minute, and with the kind of chances they were creating, they should have scored a few more. Luke Shaw got away with a close one with Brooks’ penalty shout being a highly debatable topic.

United were having a hard time getting out of their own half with the Cherries being comfortable in possession without having to deal with any sorts of pressure. Fred missed a great chance in Bournemouth’s dominance, before United started to carve a way back into the game, with eventually finding the scores sheet with the man on song, Anthony Martial. The underfire Sanchez was relatively quiet but had a say in the equalizer, as his pass across the goal found Martial who knocked it into the back of the net to level the game.

Ryan Fraser and Brad Smith were exploiting the right side of United as Young and Mata had a hard time dealing with the overlapping runs of Smith and Fraser cutting inside.

United started the second half as they did the first one, on the back foot, and couldn’t sustain an attack until Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera came on, resulting in Sanchez shifting wide.

As the game continued to pan out, United started to show their authority and put the pressure on with continued attacks. United could still have conceded in the second half for all their improvement, if it wasn’t for De Gea, who seems to be getting back to his best after some smart saves.

For all the pre-match hype about Mourinho allegedly dropping Lukaku, he wasn’t mentioned after the match and this could be a positive for the gaffer to take as Rashford could potentially prove to be an option up top rather than on the wings.

All the underfire players this season were directly involved in United’s goals with Pogba and Sanchez assisting and Martial and Rashford scoring them.

With United unable to keep a clean sheet against Bournemouth, it seems very likely that Mourinho would be spending in January, hoping to solidify his defense.

There were some positives with Martial continuing his brilliant form, and Herrera & Rashford playing considerably good after coming on as a substitute. The Spaniard took two shots from outside the box and both of them went agonisingly wide, and Rashford got the winner in ninety-second minute.

Manchester United still sits at 7th position in league table, 7 points behind leaders Liverpool.
