DEAL CLOSE | Man United Make Stunning Improved £58m Bid For Sporting Star Which Could Finally Seal The Deal

Solskjaer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Bruno

Manchester United have made an improved eye watering offer for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.

United are determined to make a bunch of signings in the current window in order to avoid a repeat of last season’s disastrous campaign. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear that he would like most of his squad to be ready by the first of July, just in time for pre-season. Hence, the onus is on CEO Ed Woodward to get deals for desired targets as soon as possible.

Bruno Fernandes is one of the club’s primary targets for this window. The midfielder has been in magnificent form, having scored an immense 32 goals with 18 assists in 53 appearances for Sporting last season. He also helped Portugal to win the Nations League final a couple of days ago. The 24-year-old’s form has not gone unnoticed, and hence he is obviously a name on the lips of several top clubs around Europe.

United are determined to beat the competition though, and have prepared a big money move that may be hard for Sporting to turn down. According to reports in Journal de Notices, United have submitted a massive £58 million bid with performance related add-ons worth around £13.3 million. They are confident of out-bidding any other club that come in for him. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have both shown an interest in the Portuguese star, while Inter Milan have also maed an inquiry.

Bruno himself though, remains unclear and undecided as to where his future lies. He recently spoke about his admiration for the Serie A and Antonio Conte, but also revealed his admiration for Liverpool. Where he will be playing next season though, is a subject that is yet to be finalized. Speaking in an interview with Sport Mediaset, Bruno said:

“I was very happy in Italy and still watch Serie A games regularly.

“I do not have the slightest idea if it’s true that Inter are interested in me. They have a great Coach now in Antonio Conte who did so well at Juventus and with Italy. Of course, seeing my name associated with Inter is important.

“I know nothing, I will take the next few days to understand what is true.

“We know that newspapers sometimes have to make a show to move the market and sell.

“I’m calm, I’m at a big club. I don’t need to move, I’m not trying to leave.

“If the opportunity comes to go to a team that you can’t refuse, I’ll talk to Sporting.”

  1. I am a fan of Manchester United for three decades when Manchester United was not famous. Since the departure of SAF the team is dwindling. The current CEO is a man of financial authority and his knowledge of football is poor. If Ihad been on that position I would have jumped to sign Bruno at whatever be the cost. But his procrastination is causing disappointment of people like us. Manchester United is after Wan Bissaka with just one year’s experience of Premier League whereas, Thomas Meunière is a man of vast experience in a team like PSG and is available at the cost of 25 million Pound Sterling and for Bissaka Manchester United is to fork out around 60 million Sterling Pound. Last but not the least about a central defender. If kalidou Kolibaly is not available should go for Maguire. Should not delay. Last year Maguire wanted to join Manchester United but now wants to move for City. So get Kolibaly at any cost. He will give service at least for six years. Manchester United should not forget that they are to spend more for good players as they did not qualify for Champions League. If Manchester United have qualified for champions league next year many marky players would have joined at a lest cost.

    1. Hey, thanks for your comment! I do agree and relate to your sentiments on our CEO, Ed Woodward. However, I disagree on the Wan-Bissaka bit. Aaron came through the ranks at Crystal Palace, so he’s been playing against English teams all his life. He may only have one full year as a Premier League defender but he was solid in the games he’s played, which makes the fact that it was just his first season all the more impressive. Thomas Meunier is a decent player but is average at best. PSG fans don’t really care about him and feel like he should be replaced and there’s good reason to that. I would love for us to go for Koulibaly too, but the fact that we aren’t in the Champions League makes things complicated. A fee can be agreed but if the player doesn’t want to join, Napoli aren’t going to force one of their best players to leave. As for Maguire, I feel like the price being quoted for him is way too much. Leicester seem to want £75 million for him which is utterly ridiculous. If they can get the price down to £45m or so then it might be reasonable, but Maguire just isn’t worth £75m. He also plays for Leicester, who have only qualified for the Champions League once, so unlike Koulibaly, Maguire can’t really demand Champions League football. At least United are in Europe, and if the Europa League is still not enough for him then he can go fly a kite.
