Yannick Carrasco may soon return to Europe and maybe even the Premier League as he reveals he’s been in contact with a certain club.
The Belgian recorded 7 goals and 2 assists for Dalian Yifang this season in the Chinese Super League, despite making only 10 appearances. Though it’s only a very minor league compared to Europe, these numbers are still decent.
However, being only 25 years old and choosing to make a move to something many consider to be a retirement league, surely puts his mentality under doubt. The Chinese league is notorious for offering astronomical figures as wages for attract stars and Carrasco is one of them.
Nevertheless, the winger seems to have realised his mistake and is already looking for a way back to European football. Moreover, the former Atletico Madrid man admitted his interest in playing in the Premier League as well.
Additionally, the forward also revealed that he currently has an offer from Europe, which he seems to be interested in.
“There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well. I am the most important player in the club, but I hope the chairman understands me,”
The Belgian international told Nieuwsblad [via Onefootball].
Arsenal have been one of the names constantly being linked with the attacker. The Gunners are in desperate need for a quality winger. Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have hardly been reliable for a good string of games and it is a department Unai Emery wants to address soon.
It can be speculated that this “offer” Carrasco is referring to is Arsenal, but nothing concrete has been available to the public yet.
The London’s should really be looking to sign the Dialing Yifang star if they wish to have an organised system on the pitch. The constant rotation of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being played wide and switch him with Iwobi, Mkhitaryan or Mesut Özil has affected the squad ability to maintain a good rhythm going over even a few string of games.
Moreover, the player himself is clearly regretting dropping his career in Europe for riches and has nothing but the goal of returning on his mind. Emery needs to be looking to exploit this situation and strengthen his side.
