Solskjaer Reveals the Secret to Manchester United’s Win in the FA Cup 5th Round Against Chelsea

Chelsea Vs Man United, Chelsea Vs Man Utd

It was a wonderful night for the away fans at Stamford Bridge as the Red Devils got back to winning ways on Monday night as they defeated the Blues in the fifth round during the Chelsea Vs Man Utd fixture of the FA Cup.

Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera were on target for United on a night when Chelsea never looked like going on. Herrera praised Pogba after the Chelsea Vs Man Utd clash. The Spaniard said:

“It was fantastic, we know he has the quality and was fantastic tonight.”

The Frenchman continued his good form in midfield setting up Herrera for United’s first goal and then scoring himself. This took his tally to fourteen goals in the Premier league this season, the highest ever in a single season. After the Chelsea Vs Man Utd match, Pogba said:

“It is a beautiful win. Today was a great performance from the team, all of them. It wasn’t easy. We did it. We are really pleased with that win.””The team helped me get to my best. I give everything for them. They help me score goals and get assists.”

United were playing for the first time after that 2-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions league. All eyes were on them as to how would they respond and they responded well with a wonderful performance, arguably the best under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

They were rock-solid at the back with a disciplined performance and looked a threat going forward with the pace of Rashford and Lukaku playing on the wings. Paul Pogba hailed it as a ‘beautiful’ win.

Indeed it was beautiful. United started the Chelsea Vs Man Utd game with high intensity, pressing Chelsea high up the pitch causing problems for their defence almost succeeding in getting an early goal as Kepa just managed to clear the ball almost from his touch line after receiving a back pass and with Rashford pressing up on him.

United played a very disciplined game in terms of defending with the midfielders often dropping back and helping out, while they looked to exploit Chelsea’s defence with the sheer pace of Rashford and Lukaku upfront.

Chelsea never looked like going on as they were held off by a very resilient United defence. Maurizio Sarri lined up Chelsea in a 4-3-3 formation which often shifted to a 4-1-4-1 when they lost possession with Jorginho playing in between the lines, Hazard on the wing and Higuaín upfront.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lined up United in a 4-3-1-2 formation with Mata playing in behind Lukaku and Rashford on the wings. Mata often dropped in the midfield to make a 4-2-2 diamond formation.

Mata was really the unsung hero for the Red Devils in the Chelsea Vs Man Utd. His movements in between the Chelsea centre-backs often caused problems. He also man-marked Jorginho and denied him time and space to work anything out.

Ole praised his midfield man in the post-match press conference. Ole was quoted as saying:

“Juan did a fantastic job between the two Chelsea centre backs and ran his socks off.”
