Manchester United have €75m bid accepted by Chelsea for the transfer of their star player Willian, according to various reports.
According to Tuttosport, an Italian newspaper, Chelsea have decided to reunite Willian with his former boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United for a fee around £67 million. Willian was first linked with a move to FC Barcelona, but Chelsea rejected 3 bids for the winger but United look to clinch their fourth signing of an average summer so far.
How much United spend on a player is irrelevant because we're loaded. But if we spend 75 on Willian or Maguire you've got to wonder why we won't spend 50 on Sandro this summer or Perisic last?#MUFC

Willian, who was signed by Mourinho himself at Chelsea under the noses of Tottenham Hotspur for £31.95 million in his first season in charge after returning to the club, has been a consistent performer for both Chelsea and Brazil. He scored 44 goals and provided 20 assists in 236 appearances for the Blues and scored 8 goals in 62 appearances for the national team.
Willian was one of the first names on the team sheet in the World Cup as he made 5 starts but couldn’t convert his chances as he failed to score. Although he was far more productive in 2017-18 at club level. In fact, he was one of the best players for a Chelsea side which had a mediocre season as they missed out on Champions League spot, Willian scored 6 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.
Mourinho has always been a fan of the Brazilian as his work rate is exactly what he demands from the current United squad. And also Mourinho has always been a fan of Brazilian players throughout his career as he said in an interview with ESPN Brazil on 28 April 2018.
“I think a team without a Brazilian isn’t a team,
I think their talent is fantastic and the creativity of the Brazilian players cannot be measured.”
– Jose Mourinho
Having already signed a Brazilian Fred from Shakhtar, Mourinho is looking to strengthen the attack by adding more Premier League experienced players and more so from direct rivals after adding Alexis Sanchez in January.
Willian looks great business for both Chelsea, who are getting nearly £75 million for a 29 years old and Willian, who will surely get a pay rise if he moves to United and also this might be his last contract at a major club. For United, you could argue it’s not great business but it’s not the worst one too. Though he’s 29 and will not be at the same level after 2-3 years but currently he has great dribbling and crossing skills.
Also, he is extremely hardworking as we saw in 17-18 where he was racing up and down the field in a Pragmatic Antonio Conte system. Plus, United have been crying out for right wing options with genuine pace. He would certainly be an upgrade to someone like Juan Mata.
He is not one for the future but in the current scenario, he is a great option. On the other hand, this would mean lesser game time for future stars like Martial, Rashford and even Tahith Chong, who will be in and around the first team set up after impressing in pre-season so far.
If I were a Manchester United fan I would be excited and concerned at the same time. Mourinho might come to his own of not giving a chance to youngsters and playing experienced.
