£142 million Brazilian Inching Closer To Old Trafford Move After This Major Development

According to reliable sports outlet El Pais, the Catalan player has requested Barcelona to put him on the transfer list. This news has come as the Brazilian handed the transfer request to Blaugrana Blues. Philippe Coutinho has failed to adjust to the surroundings of Camp Nou.

The Story

The Brazilian international, Philippe Coutinho joined the Spanish giants Barcelona in the last January transfer window. The player joined Barcelona from Liverpool for a reported fee of £142 million. However, the player has failed to live up to the expectations which were initially expected by the supporters and board members of the club.

Since his move to Camp Nou, the Brazilian has failed to make an impact. The player has failed to live up to the reputations which he had during his Liverpool days. In 76 games across all the competitions, Coutinho has only 21 goals and 11 assists to his tally. Philippe Coutinho is deprived of his first-team game at Camp Nou.

In the 2018-19 season, Coutinho played 34 games in La-Liga for Barcelona. In those 34 games, Coutinho has just 5 goals and 2 assists to his name. The player has only 58% of his first team time. So, the player has handed a transfer request to the club.

On the other hand, Manchester United are in a dire need of a strong upgrade to their midfield and wings. The club has tested Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard as their right wingers but has not performed consistently, This has made Ole Gunnar Solskjaer look for wingers wherein Coutinho can prove handy for the club. Moreover, Borussia Dortmund has put a huge price on their winger, Jadon Sancho.
