Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has been closely monitoring the developments of Eddie Nketiah and made the Arsenal youngster their top target in the upcoming transfer window, having failed to sign him for £10 million last summer, according to The Sun.
Nektiah’s contract runs out at the end of this season. The 22-year-old English striker looks set to leave the Gunners this summer as Palace manager and former Arsenal maestro, Patrick Vieira, makes him a priority. Nketiah has struggled for playtime this season, having started merely 4 games. All four of these starts have come in the last four games that the Gunners have played in the Premier League.

The Englishman has grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he made a statement by scoring a sensational brace against last season’s Champions League winners, Chelsea. Nketiah has been fighting for playtime for the last few seasons, but to no avail and is finally set to leave the club for game time elsewhere and elsewhere might just be Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace currently stand at a decent 10th place in the Premier League and are looking to improve next season. The South London club have struggled with scoring goals this season, having managed to score just 45 goals, which is comparatively better than all the clubs below them
However, when compared to the clubs sitting above them in the Premier League, the Eagles are certainly worse off. Barring Wolves and Brighton, all have score more goals and Wolves even sport a better defensive record.
The current Palace outfit features very talented players in Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher, but they lack the finishing touch, a striker that converts the chances created by supporting players. Eddie Nketiah will hope to solve the goal-scoring problems of Crystal Palace if the move eventually materialises.

Mikel Arteta has shown faith in the youngster after featuring him in all four of his last starting lineups, but maybe for the Spaniard, all his attempts might be too little too late. The Gunners are plotting to bring in 2 new strikers in the upcoming window, which might signal even lesser playing time for Eddie as the new season rolls in, and looking for pastures anew might be his best option to progress his football further.
Nketiah wouldn’t be the only striker setting his sight elsewhere. Alexandre Lacazette, who has been at the club since 2017, might make a move to another club as his contract also comes to a finish at the end of the season.
