After being included in the FIFA team of the year this past week, David de Gea put up a blistering performance in the Tottenham Vs United game to shut his critics up for good. They questioned his inclusion into the first team due to the below average performances since the FIFA World Cup.
Ole, who won his sixth game in a row as United boss, owed the win to David de Gea. The Spaniard displayed a Man of the Match performance to make sure Ole’s winning streak continues.
United came out unscathed from the game against Tottenham. With Ole’s biggest test so far coming in the form of Spurs away at Wembley, the 1-0 win went a long way to prove United’s steady rise under the Norwegian.
But the match belonged to David de Gea as he made a staggering eleven saves to deny Kane, Alli, Son, amongst a few of the 11 shots taken on target by Spurs.
Solskjaer has tipped him to become the greatest ever goalkeeper United have ever had and suggested that David de Gea could over take Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar as well over the coming years.

With a disastrous FIFA World Cup hangover potentially ending, the United faithful can expect to see the world’s number 1 shot stopper to be back at it again and be the wall they have been waiting for to shut up opposition attacks.
The eleven saves David de Gea made were the most in a game this season. And his record for most saves in a single match is still joint top amongst the charts with 14 denials in one match that came against Arsenal away last season.
If the Spaniard continues to put up performances like these with the toughest period of the season still to come starting Arsenal away in the FA cup, United could well pull off a great escape, in both the league as well as the Champions League.
Latest On Man Utd:
Many would consider that the second half performance last night was more Mourinho esque. The United team holding on to the lead and being resilient and sturdy while defending, this was what the former manager did with the team. However, it was an even match in the first half.
Ole understood the task well enough to experiment his team to be fluid but cautious. With the next big fixture being Arsenal away at the Emirates, United would be hoping this win would’ve given the players enough confidence to take on Arsenal with the same gusto and attitude they had shown in the first five games.
Before that, United take on Brighton in the league next Saturday.
