David Luiz Neck Injury or Self Isolation Mystery; Is There More to This Than Meets The Eye

David Luiz, David Luiz contract, covid 19

The official line is that Arsenal defender David Luiz has a neck injury and won’t be available for up to six weeks, but there is a suggestion that the player has contracted COVID 19 and has placed himself in isolation.

The defender missed training on Wednesday and is certainly going to miss Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Fulham. However, head coach Mikel Arteta is yet comment on the issue, given how crucial the Brazilian was during the end of the last season.

It’s said that the Brazilian’s injury is still being assessed and that it was sustained in the FA Cup win over Chelsea 14 days ago (at the time of writing). Mmmm…interesting.

I watched the re-run of the FA Cup game against Chelsea today and saw a fit David Luiz playing without any sign of injury. Afterward, he was celebrating with his Arsenal colleagues and consoling his former Chelsea teammates without clutching any particular part of his anatomy. Just saying!

Of course, Arsenal are going to manage the news their way, they always have and if you think that this suggestion is rather far-fetched, perhaps, we should remind you that Sead Kolasinac and Mesut Ozil contracted the virus and the club suppressed the story.

It would appear that COVID 19 is back in the world of football and the disappearance of David Luiz coincides with the news that Manchester City have lost winger Riyad Mahrez and defender Aymeric Laporte after both contracted COVID 19.

You can bet there are others, but football doesn’t need any negative press at present because of its current financial problems.
