Here is What Arsenal Fans Should Be Expecting From Their New Centre-back

David Luiz, David, Luiz, David Luiz to Arsenal, Newcastle, mustafi and luiz

In a transfer window that Arsenal have pretty much dominated, the surprises just keep coming. But who out there saw a move for Chelsea’s David Luiz ? No one! Arsenal went into stealth mode for the 32-year-old and at the time of writing this, it’s said that his fee could be as little as £8m.

Arsenal have got themselves a Premier League ready player with international experience on every stage and at every level. David Luiz is vocal, an organiser and a leader. In fact, he’s everything Arsenal haven’t had for years. In terms of a replacement for Koscielny, he ticks all of the boxes and he’ll bring obvious intensity and desire.

However, this move can be seen exactly for what it is – a stop gap that meets Arsenal’s immediate needs and allows Emery to buy his favored future centre-back to partner Saliba. One gets the impression that player will be either RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano or Samuel Umtiti of Barcelona.

The move for David Luiz is shrewd and Unai Emery has allowed himself the breathing space he needs should he fail to land either of his long term options.

David Luiz apparently refused to train and had fallen out with a number of players in recent days. This may be just another case of a player disrespecting his club and the worthless contract that bound them together. It’s now known as doing a ‘Koscielny’

We were then told of the numerous occasions this ‘source’ was correct, including the appointment of Edu as technical director. Which was hardly a secret and something that we at Arsedevils confirmed months before he arrived.

David Luiz is famous in the football fraternity for his passing range and ability to play out from the back. He is also known for his mind-blowing free kicks – ones that are compared to the legend and fellow Brazilian Roberto Carlos. Many would argue about the player’s age but Luiz looks completely fit and played 36 games, scoring 3 goals for Chelsea last season.

Emery has worked with Luiz during his stint at PSG, and that might have held some significance in convincing him to move to the red half of London.

With the lethal pace of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe upfront, Luiz can unleash them with his pin point long balls over the opposition defence, like he used to do at Chelsea for Willian and Pedro on the flanks.

All in all, Arsenal have played it quite smartly by capturing his signature from a direct rival club for a mere £8 million. With David Luiz, not only do Arsenal get a leader in defence, but also a player who can supply the attacking force when they face heavy man-to-man marking and stubborn defensive sides.

Anti Kroenke , anti Gazidis but always a gooner. Still wishes he could watch from the stands at the Highbury library.
