Gary Neville Brilliantly Points Out The Exact Moment Where Everything Started Going Wrong For United

David Moyes
Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes the reason for his former side’s current problems began when the club sacked David Moyes just 8 months after appointing him as the club’s manager back in 2013.
United have got off to a terrible start this season, losing 3 of their opening 7 games in the Premier League. They also got knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby. The major reason for the same is believed to be the fallout in the dressing room between Jose Mourinho and some of the senior players, namely Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.
This was very evidently visible when Mourinho stripped Pobga of the vice-captaincy and also dropped him from the team for the Carabao cup game against Derby. Also, just a couple days later, a video taken at Carrington showed the two having a pretty serious chat. In the very next game, Alexis Sanchez was dropped by Mourinho. With the fact that Pogba is the most expensive signing by the club and Sanchez is the highest paid player in England, these are worrying signs for Manchester United.
Gary Neville believes that United set out on the path of self-destruction ever since they sacked the former Everton manager David Moyes within just 8 months of appointing him. Neville said :
“This mess started when United sacked David Moyes after eight months and we lost all sense of the values that the club had been built on for 100 years.
“It’s not the manager it’s the lack of football leadership above him. They are bouncing all over the place with no plan.”
United have had 3 managers after the retirement of Sir Alex, namely David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho. During this period of 5 years, United have managed to win only 3 major trophies – the UEFA Europa League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
This certainly has made the fans very disappointed by the regular failure of the club in winning the domestic league and the prestigious Champions League.
Manchester United were always believed to have had difficulties in the post-Alex Ferguson era, but the sacking of David Moyes showed that United needed quick results and they weren’t going to give time for the forthcoming managers to settle. This chain reaction which was initiated by Moyes passed on to Louis Van Gaal and now seems to have struck Jose Mourinho and his sacking seems just round the corner. A major reason for the same is the restlessness in today’s fans who demand immediate results.
Manchester United áre a huge organisation with football passion running in the veins of its fans and the hunger for winning will force the club to take big steps for its own welfare. They have a very powerful team which is capable of winning laurels and its just a matter of time when they start competing again, not only for the domestic competitions but also the UEFA Champions League.
