Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed a flying start on his debut as caretaker manager for Manchester United at the expense of his former club Cardiff City on Saturday. The team played expansive football and looked completely different to what it looked under former manager Jose Mourinho. New Manager comes with new transfer links and now United is reportedly linked with World Cup winner Ousmane Dembele.

Goals from Anthony Martial, Ander Herrera, Marcus Rashford and a Jesse Lingard brace saw the Red Devils run out 5-1 winners at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, this result meant United are on course to challenge for a Champions League spot under Solskjaer, as he attempts to rebuild following Jose Mourinho’s sacking on Tuesday.
The Norwegian, upon his appointment, had stated that he’d have a significant role to play over the possible transfers in the January transfer window. Apparently, Solskjaer would be handed a transfer budget of £50 million for the January window.
Solskjaer needs to strengthen his squad in the upcoming transfer window and to challenge for a top-four finish, signing a top centre-half and a world-class playmaker should be his top priorities.
As far as the latest transfer rumours are concerned, French playmaker, Ousmane Dembele is linked with a potential move to Old Trafford in the summer.

Since his move to Barcelona, it’s fair to say that Dembele hasn’t exactly set the Camp Nou alight. On a few occasions this season, Dembele has got people off their seats through his electric pace and decent finishing, but those moments have been few and far between.
According to Don Balon, the French attacker has his eyes on leaving Barcelona in the summer and he wants to sign for Manchester United to work under Zidane. Man Utd would be looking for a new permanent manager, Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochetino being the top targets. As per the reports, Zizou has an incredible offer on the table to become the head coach of the Red Devils and the French boss would want Dembele on his team.
If there’s one thing that United have lacked up front for a while now, it is the ability for their front players to beat defenders at will, take the ball into the danger areas at pace and deliver. Dembele ticks all of those boxes and just needs a fresh perspective on the game to push him to the next level.
The 21-year-old superstar is comfortable on either flank. He is fast, has no weak foot and is a brilliant dribbler as well. All In all, Dembele is clearly better than the current crop of Man United forwards. Physically, Dembele is lithe, athletic and the demands of the Premier League will take some getting used to.

However, the main concern for United is the need to sign quality stars like Dembele in January for a top-four challenge, to have Dembele this winter from Barcelona who are one of the favourites to win the Champions League and they are leading the La Liga table, for a struggling Man United side in the middle of the season seems highly unlikely.
