Dominik Szoboszlai The £22.5m Midfielder in Whom Arsenal Look to Secure Another Crucial Piece of The jigsaw

Dominik Szoboszlai

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Arsenal are interested in RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and are looking to move for him in January. The reports emerged after Dominik’s agent confirmed Arsenal’s interest during a business panel discussion at the offices of Forbes magazine, according to the Hungarian outlet Index.

Fans will always want more additions to their team and Arsenal fans are no different, even though Thomas Partey and Gabriel have stood out as the pick of the summer transfer deals. While Chelsea were splashing out £200m plus, a restrained Arsenal spent a reported £67m for two players in key areas.

There were a few more additions that were straddled across last season and this, but the final amount is under a £100m and most keen observers have endorsed the activity as a resounding success so far. What Arsenal now need is a little dash of flair and creativity and that could be provided by Dominik Szoboszlai (20), whom its claimed is now the preferred target for Arsenal’s midfield.

Arteta and Edu are said to have given up on the idea of trying to sign Lyon’s Houssem Aouar after recognising that the attached fees are more than they or the club are prepared to pay. The Gunners are eager to improve their creative department and have identified the 20-year-old midfielder as the perfect reinforcement.

Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai is another steal at around £22.5m and it’s clear what the attraction is here. Undoubtedly classy and well balanced, with tricks aplenty, the Hungarian will take the ball up to the opponent’s box to execute a killer pass.

His party piece is rolling his foot over the ball to take it in the other direction, but he also has the vision Arsenal have been lacking and has two lightning-quick feet that can thump or caress the ball. He is as adept at scorching the ball from a distance as he is with in-swingers, out-swingers, chips, and flicks and can measure a pass over distance to running feet or thread the ball through a crowd to it’s intended target.

He can dribble through defenders, transferring the ball from right to left foot quickly and more often than not, fly down the middle most directly if space is there to be had. The prospect of his arrival is certainly a reason to get extremely excited about a partnership with Thomas Partey.

Arsenal could even switch to a 4-4-2 formation on occasion to expand their midfield options, but Szoboszlai would also be perfect with just the Ghanaian alongside him. The Hungarian could be exceptional, he could be a crucial piece of an intricate and intriguing puzzle to get the Arsenal engine room purring.

His recent figures were enough to get mouths watering with 22 goals and 32 assists in 73 appearances for RB Salzburg. He is every bit the Ozil type but with a higher intensity and work rate. He will need Arteta’s touch and management style to allow him to excel and could be another success story for the Premier League’s catalogue of talented imports.

It was rumoured that Szoboszlai had turned down Arsenal earlier this year, but a source close to the club said his emergence in the club’s plans is “relatively recent”.
