Two More Manchester United Players Move Clubs Until the End of the Season

Manchester United have seen a few big names go on loan in the January transfer window. Anthony Martial moved to Sevilla on loan until the end of the season. Donny van de Beek and Amad Diallo became the latest players to make a loan move for the remainder of the season.

Donny van de Beek Joins Everton On Loan

Donny van de Beek joined Everton on deadline day. The Toffees have agreed to cover his full wages during the loan stint, but do not have the option to make his move permanent. Crystal Palace and Valencia were also interested in the player’s services, but the Dutchman opted for a move to Goodison Park.

Van de Beek was an integral part of the Ajax side that overcame Real Madrid and Juventus in the knockout stages of the Champions League three years ago. Manchester United bought him for £35m in 2020 but he struggled to find a place in the first team.

VDB failed to make the starting eleven even once in the Premier League this season. Minutes have been hard to come by for the Netherlands international. He last found a good chunk of minutes during the 4-1 loss against Watford in November, in which he bagged his sole goal of the season.

Moving to Everton could be a step in the right direction for the 24-year-old midfielder, having featured for just 68 minutes in 8 appearances for the Red Devils. Van de Beek said the appointment of Frank Lampard as the Toffees’ new manager has been the driving force behind his decision to move to Goodison Park:

“I had a really positive meeting with the new coach,” he said. “We have the same ideas about football and he had a lot of influence on my decision.

“He can help me a lot, so I think I’m in a good spot. I want to improve with Everton. There are always things that can be better and I work hard every day to do that.”

Amad Diallo Signs For Rangers

Amad Diallo has joined Scottish Champions Rangers on loan. He has made the Ibrox Stadium his temporary home until the end of the season. He made his debut one day after moving to Glasgow, opening the scoring for the Gers in a 3-3 draw against Ross County.

Diallo was born in Ivory Coast before moving to Atalanta at the age of 10. He climbed up the ranks through the Atalanta youth set-up, making his first senior appearance for the Italian club in a 7-1 thrashing of Udinese. He was 17 years and 109 days old then and scored on his debut four minutes after coming on.

Manchester United signed the 19-year-old for a £19m deal in January 2021, which also included £18.2m in add-ons. The Ivorian forward signed a contract until June 2025 with the Red Devils. Then manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer described him as “one of the most exciting young prospects in the game”.

Diallo is believed to be a long term prospect for the Premier League club and Rangers could be a suitable destination for the youngster’s development. When asked about his move to Ibrox, the player said:

“I am delighted to join Rangers until the end of the season.

“It is fantastic for me at this stage of my career to have the opportunity to come to such a big club that is challenging on a number of fronts and will give me some excellent opportunities to test myself in many environments.”
