The Express have recently published a report stating that Manchester United are possibly be looking at Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina while contemplating adding to their attacking options for next season. This comes in the wake of their management looking for attacking options to strengthen the squad for the next season and with United persistently inching closer to signing Jadan Sancho just like last season.
The Serb has had an impressive season 20/21 season for Fiorentina, netting 21 goals and also helping out his teammates with 3 assists. No wonder why the left footed striker has increasingly kept garnering attention from some of the most reputable clubs all across Europe.
Manchester United, along with many other European giants are vying for the transfer of Erling Haaland. But, the hefty transfer fee and costly wages are making it difficult for some of them to pursue him. On the other hand the Red Devils are on the lookout for alternatives to Haaland and that is where Dusan Vlahovic comes in.
The 21 year old Dusan Vlahovic is an efficient finisher along with possessing good dribbling skills. The 6’2 striker is known for his work off the ball and is also an aerial threat standing at 6’2.
The Daily Express report also talks about interest from Juventus who prefer a 2 year loan spell, while the Red Devils are willing to get him in a direct transfer. According to reports in Italian Press via tuttosport, Manchester United along with Real Madrid and Inter Milan are some of the most eminent clubs which are being linked to the Serbian. However, it could all well be a ruse, with the player looking to secure a substantial contract extension offer from Fiorentina and reports of significant external interest in his services only adding to his present market value.
There are other reports from Inside Futbol which say that the player’s agents have met with Liverpool last month and also talk about possible interest from AC Milan given the departure of some of their players.

The Red Devils meanwhile do have Edinson Cavani, who has just extended his contract for another year. But, they understand that this is not a permanent solution. The rebuild process at Old Trafford definitely requires fresh talent and long term strategy and the 21 year old Dusan Vlahovic certainly seems to fit the bill, judging by his imploding performance in the Serie A this season.
But again, this might well be one of the busiest transfer windows ever with many teams trying to boost their squads. The competition will be immense. And then, there are the financials. Will the board be willing to spend in excess of €50 million for him?
We should also take into consideration the fact that Manchester United are presently in pursuit of a certain Jadon Sancho once again who, according to various reports, will cost them around €80 million. They also have other positions to worry about this summer. Which is why if such a significant outlay for a striker does not happen this summer, this might come at the end of the next season once again. It doesn’t seem like United are in any such hurry for a backup striker at the moment.
