England vs Belgium : What To Expect In The Final Game Of Group G As Teams Battle It Out For The Top Spot Looking To Go Unbeaten

England vs Belgium, Group G Predicted Line ups

England vs Belgium | Fifa World Cup , Group G | Thursday , 28 June

[spacer height=”30px”]

The third and final game of 2018 Fifa World Cup Group G takes place on 28 June where England take on Belgium to decide who wins the group after impressive performances from both the sides.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Group G was pretty straight forward for both The Red Devils and The Three Lions as they both managed to secure a place in the knock out stages. With qualification being secured the only thing left undecided is who finishes top, something that either of them would want to avoid.[spacer height=”30px”]

After wins against Panama and Tunisia, both Belgium and England are locked in at six points with 8 goals scored and two conceded so a draw will result in fair play records determining the winner, England have one less yellow card than Belgium and its hard to say what the teams will be playing for in England vs Belgium.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Both the sides haven’t really been tested so far so a win in this game could potentially decide the real title contenders.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Head-To-Head

[spacer height=”30px”]

Belgium have won just one of their last 21 England vs Belgium matches, a 3-2 victory which came in 1936. In competitive World Cup games the two sides have met twice with England being unbeaten winning one and drawing the other.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

England

[spacer height=”30px”]

Gareth Southgate’s men look in fine form after demolishing Panama 6-1 and setting new records but their final test will be the hardest so far with England vs Belgium being the trickiest of the alot, who have all eyes on the trophy and progressed swiftly themselves. Eric Dier is set to make his first appearance in the England vs Belgium game after returning to training.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Delli Alli has recovered from a knock that saw him miss the previous game against Panama but the side to face Belgium is also likely to see the likes of Phil Jones, Alexander Arnold and Loftus Cheek start.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Speaking before the England vs Belgium game Jan Vertonghen said :

[spacer height=”20px”]

“It’s going to be a special game – special because I know a lot of the players.[spacer height=”20px”]

“It’s going to be interesting to see the guys on such a stage. My team-mates (at Spurs) are my friends so it’s going to be very funny.”[spacer height=”20px”]

[spacer height=”20px”]

England Squad

[spacer height=”20px”]

  • Goalkeepers : Jack Butland (Stoke), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Burnley)[spacer height=”20px”]
  • Defenders : Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Harry Maguire (Leicester), Danny Rose (Tottenham), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Ashley Young (Manchester United)[spacer height=”20px”]
  • Midfielders : Dele Alli (Tottenham), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea)[spacer height=”20px”]
  • Forwards : Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)[spacer height=”30px”]

“It’s momentum and we want to keep that moment going. Our mentality is to win every game we can,” he said.

[spacer height=”20px”]

“We just want to keep winning and winning. That’ll put us in good stead. It doesn’t matter who we might play next because to get as far as you can, to get to the final you’re going to have to face these top teams.

[spacer height=”20px”]

“Either way you’re going to have to play them so, if we play them early, that’s how it’s going to be.”[spacer height=”20px”]

Key Players :

[spacer height=”30px”]

Harry Kane

[spacer height=”30px”]

Sitting on top of the top scorers list with his 5 goals in 2 games Harry Kane netted a hatrick against Panama in his last game and will be looking to continue his goal-scoring form when his side take on The Red Devils in the England vs Belgium game. He will also have his eyes on the golden boot sitting one goal clear of Romelu Lukaku who is set to miss the game and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo who are tied at 4 goals.

[spacer height=”20px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Marcus Rashford(Manchester United)

[spacer height=”30px”]

Raheem Sterling’s failure to impress and finding the net could see him being replaced by the golden boy Marcus Rashford who has been down the pecking order due to injury and has often been introduced only as a sub. However he has not failed to impress when started which includes his spectacular strike in the friendly against Costa Rica where England eased past with a 2-0 win.

An in-form Romelu Lukaku supplied by the talented Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne and a strong back line with Toby Alderweireld and Thibaut Courtois in goal.

Key Players :

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mitchy Batshuayi (Borussia Dortmund)

[spacer height=”30px”]

After coming on as a sub in the 68th minute against Tunisia the former Chelsea man was quick to get on the scoresheet after a couple of missed chances as he scored the fifth goal for Belgium and his first of the tournament. With Lukaku proposed to being rested in the final game Belgium will turn to Batshuayi to lead their attack to see past a strong England side for the England vs Belgium game.

  1. Totally agree with your predicted Line ups right here but would, have preferred to have seen Danny Welback starting right up top or in place of Lingard. Rashford no doubt deserves to be starting every darn match.

Lets Hope for a win even though the consequences like you said because Football is coming home lads 😀 😀
