As the dream run continues for the Red Devils under their new caretaker manager who has led them to an unparalleled 9 wins in 10 games, the fans may witness another United legend joining the administration as Eric Cantona dropped a hint via a social media post. His instagram post had the caption:
“I can’t tell you anything but you will love it! @manchesterunited”.
The atmosphere around the Old Trafford suggests that the former French international is in line to be named as the Head of Football at Manchester United. This position was created as a part of the restructuring of administration at the club after the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
The new HoF will report directly to Ed Woodward, the Chief Executive of Manchester United. Earlier in the season, there was absolute chaos in the administration with the results not going their way and also not much development at the youth academy. The consequence of all this was the infamous sacking of Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager had refused to work under the Director of Football and the club respected his wish to work under his own structure.
In desperate need of a season revamp, United named a caretaker manager in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and delayed naming a permanent manager until the end of the season. As the ship has steadied itself with a revitalized team under the Norwegian, it is time that the administration makes the necessary amends thinking about the future.
After the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, every United season can be described as “Too much promise but none being fulfilled”. Now with the arrival of Solskjaer, nostalgia has found a place among the fans.
United need a leader who would understand the rich culture of the club, and who would be better than a former club captain with 143 appearances as a Red Devil.
