Arsenal fans have been known to find ways to link top transfer targets of their choice with their club and Erling Haaland is the latest name among those. As it has been established, Arsenal want to sign two strikers in the summer. The Gunners are yet to sort out their striking options and quite obviously, the Norwegian striker remains one of the prime options.
Twitter user @SemperFiArsenal was quick to spot Erling Haaland’s red and white flip-flops. He then excitingly linked Haaland with a move to Arsenal by leaving a comment under the post. The red and white flip-flops could be justified as Haaland is currently on international duty and Norway has similar colours to that of Arsenal.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano had mentioned Haaland links to Arsenal in his Here We Go podcast. He was quick to dismiss the talks and kept it real for the Arsenal fans. However, the fans do not lose hope in their pursuit of a star.
“I see some Arsenal fans asking about Erling Haaland but guys, no. Erling Haaland is not a realistic possibility for this summer for Arsenal. But they are exploring the market for many strikers.”
Why Arsenal Fans Are Overly Hopeful Of Landing Erling Haaland?
As it is already clearly evident, Erling Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world right now at just 21 years of age. He provides a lot to Dortmund in the attacking department and is already regarded as one of the best players in the future. Any club in the world would take him in heartbeat but the only problem is his wages.
Arsenal are searching for strikers to sort their crisis in the attacking department. They were unable to replace Aubameyang in January and will be continuing the process in the summer. Many fans hope that the club will push their limits to attract the best players. However, Fabrizio Romano has made it clear to the Arsenal fans without much sugarcoating.
Many times, a player joins a new club to play beside a player they already know. They get attracted to the club by the things they get to know from their teammates at the country level. Similarly, Martin Odegaard, the captain of the Norwegian national team could try to lure Erling Haaland to Arsenal. This link between the club and player is also one of the reasons why fans still remain hopeful for Haaland.
Why Signing Haaland Is Overly Ambitious for the Gunners?
Since Erling Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world at a tender age, most elite clubs in Europe will be in the hunt for his signature. Out of all the possible clubs interested in Haaland, Arsenal does not have the pull that some of the other clubs have. The only main link Arsenal have with Haaland that their other competitors don’t is that they have his international teammate Odegaard.
Moreover, all the other clubs have mostly secured their Champions League for the next season. Arsenal are also strong favourites to that but have struggled at the start of this season. Even if Haaland joins Arsenal, he does not have the best chance of winning the Champions League with the Gunners.

Lastly, Haaland’s wage demands are very high and even the elite clubs are thinking 10 times before signing the player. He already has an enormous transfer fee but also needs to be paid his agent’s fees before completing the transfer. Arsenal should look for other young players who would be easier to manage financially. Being realistic in their pursuit will only help Arsenal to close their deals faster and prepare for what comes next.
