Marouane Fellaini could be on his way out of Manchester United as early as this month, according to reports.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford for quite a while now. He was in fact due to leave the club last summer, with Besiktas, Galatasaray and quite a few other clubs showing an interest. However, he was deemed an important asset to the club by former manager Jose Mourinho, who did everything in his power to convince him to stay.
Fellaini took advantage of this, and held the club to ransom over a renewal. He demanded an increase in wages and somehow managed to get the board to bow to his demands.
Now that Mourinho is out the door though, the Belgian does not seem to be needed at United anymore. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears eager to go back to United’s roots and play free flowing, attacking football. The hoof ball tactics so heavily employed by Mourinho, Van Gaal and David Moyes finally seem to have disappeared.

Fellaini is often seen as the symbol of United’s fall from grace since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. He was Moyes’s first signing and his style of play just did not seem to suit the traits of a standard United midfielder. As a result, the fans found it incredibly hard to take a liking to him.
The 31-year-old has chipped in with his fair share of important goals though. However, now that Mourinho is gone, it finally appears to be time up for Fellaini at United. Several reports suggested that the towering midfielder felt ‘hurt’ by the Portuguese’s sacking. And he could now follow his former boss out the door.
According to reports, AC Milan are keen on bringing the Belgian over to the Serie A. Porto and Guangzhou Evergrande have also made their interest known. United would apparently be willing to sell him during the ongoing winter window, and have set a £15 million price tag on his head.
