The One Man Arteta Needs | Massive Transfer Boost for Arsenal as Serie A Midfielder Rebuffs New Contract

Franck Kessie

AC Milan’s Franck Kessie is a wanted man and if Mikel Arteta wants to add proven quality to his young side and his emerging blueprint of youth, then his search is over. At 24, this powerful yet graceful midfielder ticks all the boxes and it’s no wonder that a host of top clubs are immensely interested in his services.

Franck Kessie is a massive upgrade in a key area for the Spaniard and if Edu hasn’t already made a tentative phone call, he should make haste. A great many fans would rather want the dynamic duo to look for a striker, but here at AD, we’re in favour of completing what could be a strong defensive, competitive and combative defence and midfield and believe Franck Kessie is the man to complete the puzzle.

He’s not cheap, but strangely enough, the valuation of around £50m is not as extravagant as it appears, you get a lot for your money and when you consider Xhaka cost £35m, it seems like peanuts. Look at any Youtube footage and you will see just how much he can influence a game, especially going forward, with long-range passes that are beautifully struck and there’s even the threat of the outside of the foot into the path of a runner.

The 24-year-old is in the last year of his current contract at AC Milan and according to fresh reports, Kessie has rebuffed a new contract offer from the Serie A contract. Arsenal have a golden chance to sign him in January or can even sign a pre-contract with the Ivorian enabling him to join them for free next summer.

He is a formidable physical presence and alongside Thomas Partey or slightly in advance of that position, he could prove to be a phenomenal acquisition. Defenders seem to be dazzled by his balance and footwork but it’s his intelligence on the ball and ability to weave this way and that which is captivating.

In the way that Lukaku is intimidating going forward, Franck Kessie presents similar problems in a different area. A drop of the shoulder, a change of direction from his swivel hips and he’s in full attack mode. Blessed with fantastic and jaw-dropping technical ability, the Ivorian is naturally on the front foot releasing others to push the advantage on a quick break.

He has great balance and poise and his power unhinges the best defences, with either a back splitting pass or from his desire to take them on. He’s also not too shabby in reverse when it looks as if the opposition are forcing their way through, in imposing fashion, Kessie can mop up with calmness and complete confidence.

In my opinion, he’d be a fantastic asset to Mikel Arteta and if you are about to mention Sambi Lokonga, the youngster has more to learn at this stage of his career and although he looks like a huge talent, Kessie is better at this moment in time. I’d urge Edu to make contact, be relentless in his pursuit of the player and push this deal over the line.
