Fulham Agree Fee to Sign Manchester United Midfielder Permanently, Talks to Begin With Player

Andreas Pereira, Fulham

According to latest reports, Manchester United agree fee with Fulham to sell midfielder Andreas Pereira. The newly-promoted side want to sign the Brazilian permanently this summer. The Cottagers submitted a bid on Monday, which has been accepted by the Red Devils.

Andreas Pereira is currently on loan at Flamengo, with the Brazilian outfit interested in signing him permanently this summer. However, they found it difficult to meet United’s demands, causing the deal to completely fall through. He will be returning to Old Trafford after his loan deal with Flamengo expires this week.

The 26-year-old midfielder has made a few occasional appearances for the Red Devils, but has ultimately failed to cement his place in the squad. He has had four loan spells since joining the United senior team in 2016.

As reported by The Athletic, Fulham made their interest clear by submitting an £8.6m (€10 m) bid plus add-ons which could take the total to £11m for Andreas Pereira. The Cottagers are still in search of their first signing of the season, very similar to United. The Brazilian could get regular game-time in the top flight with Marco Silva’s side and can help them stay in the Premier League for next season.

Now, according to 90min, Manchester United have accepted the proposal submitted by Fulham for Andreas Pereira, but the club are waiting for the player’s decision. The Red Devils have granted permission to Marco Silva’s side to negotiate a deal with the player. The Brazilian could finally see a way out of Manchester after spending almost a decade at Old Trafford, but with just 75 appearances with his parent club (stats via Transfermarkt).

Pereira’s career at United has not worked out as everyone might have hoped at first. Despite his good displays in a few appearances, he has failed to impress the manager because of his inconsistency. A permanent move out of the club was certainly lined up, especially considering the poor performance towards the end of the season against Palmeiras while playing for Flamengo.

Why Andreas Pereira Leaving Is Good News For Him And Manchester United?

The 26-year-old is also open to staying at United to work with the new manager, Erik ten Hag. It has been very clear for quite a few years that Andreas Pereira could not fit in at Manchester United. It could be the same this year too, if he chooses to stay with the Red Devils.

There is no guarantee that he will get increased game time at the Theatre of Dreams this time. They are searching for recruitments in the midfield area because there is a feeling in the United camp that the Brazilian midfielder will not be the answer to their problems.

Leaving Old Trafford once and for all could give him a fresh start to get his career back on track. There is certainly potential in him as he has previously shown in some of his performances for the Red Devils. The United fans had given him the nickname ‘Pre-season Pirlo’ because of his impressive displays in friendlies.

Nevertheless, he hasn’t been able to replicate those performances for United in competitive matches. Not to mention, he hasn’t featured for the club in a competitive match since 2019-20. His sale will also give United some funds to use in the transfer market. Although it won’t be much, it is still something considering that United have lost some key players on a free transfer this summer.

Manchester United had a season to forget as they finished with their lowest points tally in the Premier League era. So, this is a very crucial transfer window for the club if they want to get back on track. They have not made any signings yet and it is getting frustrating for the people involved with the club. The Red Devils could use some additional funds to complete a few of their priority signings and get their transfer window running.
