United Need to Get Back to Winning Ways Before Going Into the World Cup Break | Team News, Injuries and Predicted Lineup – Fulham vs Man United

Fulham vs Manchester United, Man United

Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways as they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage in West London. The Red Devils were beaten by Unai Emery’s Aston Villa 3-1 in the Premier League but got their revenge in the EFL cup with a 4-2 win over Villa after goals from Martial,Fernandes, Rashford and Mctominay.

The Cottagers, on the other hand, come off the back of their late defeat to champions Manchester City in a tight affair. They have been relegated in their last three seasons in the Premier League, but this season they have had a strong start sitting at ninth with 19 points from 14 games.

During their last visit to Fulham back in 2021, Manchester United recorded a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage. Meanwhile, Red Devils have won 11 out of their 12 fixtures against the Cottagers, which is encouraging for Erik Ten Hag.

Injury/Suspension List:

Fulham have bad news with their top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has nine league goals, ruled out of the contest due to a foot injury, and might not represent Serbia at the World Cup. Neeskens Kebano and Solomon are out with injury while Kenny Tete and Harrison Reed are out with suspensions.

Bobby Decordova-Reid should slot in at right-back after coming back from his ban. Tom Cairney could come in for a start in midfield due to Reed’s absence, while Carlos Vinicius is again likely to feature at centre-forward due to Mitrovic’s injury.

For Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antony could be both back in the match-day squad after recovering from their injuries. Raphael Varane, Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe will again definitely be out through injury, while Diogo Dalot is suspended for his red card against Aston Villa in the league.

Tyrell Malacia’s versatility could come into play as he slots into right-back with Victor Lindelof getting another start with Lisandro Martinez. Antony Martial started against Villa in the EFL Cup and should be back in the lineup along with Antony and Rashford.

Player To Watch Out For: Andreas Pereira

Andreas Pereira, who scored from the penalty spot against Man City last time out, will also line up for the home side against his former club. Pereira’s main task at Fulham was to fill a large hole in the team left by Fabio Carvalho.

In Pereira, the Cottagers recruited a player who had featured in a variety of positions. But it was visible to Marco Silva that the Brazilian would assume the attacking midfield role, occupying similar spaces by sitting to the left of Fulham’s three midfielders in possession.

The midfielder prefers to use his creativity, playing the final pass more often. Pereira has averaged 1.6 touches in the opposition box and averages 7.2 passes into the area. He has created 14 chances for Mitrovic, being a perfect playmaker like De Bruyne for City. His set-piece delivery has been a major threat helping Fulham score seven times from corners.
