Arsenal are becoming ruthless or so the indicators lead us to believe but amid all the trimming and flogging, they need just a few short months to rid themselves of the three most toxic players in their midst. They are Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil and Skhodran Mustafi.
Ozil, Mustafi and Xhaka need to leave as quickly as Raúl Sanllehi can arrange it, because all three are typical of the decline under Wenger in his final seasons. All three flattered to deceive in the Frenchman’s eyes but on paper, they looked like the deal of the century.
Two World Cup winners, one the under appreciated gem of Real Madrid with assist figures from fantasy football. The other, a towering defensive colossus, with a square jaw and terminator status. The third in the trio was a Swiss international who apparently had a golden future ahead of him.
Granit Xhaka cost £35million from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 but he simply hasn’t looked comfortable since pen met paper.
For all the criticism of Mustafi for his error prone game, Xhaka is just as bad, if not worse, yet he finds himself in the side regardless.
It’s one of life’s enduring mysteries how an individual can bewitch two experienced managers into believing he is worth his place despite a series of high profile gaffs and cock ups.
It’s the modern day equivalent of the Emperors new clothes or the pied piper of Hamelin. Xhaka has lead the willing minds down the garden path by manufacturing an obvious untruth, whilst playing a inoffensive tune that has mesmerised the befuddled brain of the coach.
Granit Xhaka has cost Arsenal many a game with his hasty interventions and loutish tackles, coupled with his lack of concentration and commitment.
However, this has been perceived as enough to reward him the captaincy of Arsenal football club for gods sake !!
How the standard has fallen since the days of Frank McLintock, Tony Adams and Patrick Vieira, the born leaders and natural performers of their generations.
We are now led to believe that simply turning up with a slack Alice mentality and devil may care attitude is enough to take an armband, it really isn’t ! I know, I’m digressing in a state of disbelief.
Massive Injury Update Ahead Of The North London Derby As Arsenal Have Three Important Players Returning Back To Full Training
Emery in or out | Are the minority right ? Should the Spaniard wave adiós or Is It Cheap Entertainment From Football’s Fickle Bunch
Let’s get back on track.
Ask any Arsenal fan their top three players to abort from the club and Xhaka appears like a politician at a photo opportunity. His occasional good performances are undone by his empty headed slices, reckless back passes or glaring positional errors which allow the opposition side to profit.
He is just another example of Wenger’s broken radar in his latter years, way below the standards that the boss established in his prime. Granit Xhaka is just another Diaby or Squillaci, he never was good enough, especially as a captain.
