Despite Sack, Mark Hughes Slams Jose Mourinho for Post Match Comments

Mark Hughes On Jose Mourinho

Former Southampton manager Mark Hughes and Manchester United Jose Mourinho were against each other even after their teams locked horns at Old Trafford, as the Mourinho criticized his counterpart for playing for a point.

Two of the most likely managers to be sacked clashed each other as Southampton and Manchester United played 2-2 draw with the home side coming back twice to win a point. Jose Mourinho has been criticized often for playing a boring and defensive football, but this round it was the Portuguese turn to criticize their counterparts defensive play.

But that didn’t go well for him as the Manchester United legend Mark Hughes replied and called out the former Chelsea boss.

“Oh for Christ’s sake! You guys were there, you know what it is.

There was one team trying to press, had the majority of play in their half.

Their play was flat. Our goalkeeper hasn’t made any saves in my recollection. Not the game we all saw.”

Two managers have a history of controversies, as even last season when Hughes was Stoke City manager had a heated touchline bust with Mourinho. Mark Hughes reportedly pushed Jose Mourinho and said him to f**k off. Jose Mourinho didn’t wait to shake hands with his Hughes at the end of the game. In his defense, Hughes said Mourinho entered his technical area so he said so.

Jose Mourinho has been in trouble all season long. He has lost the trust of many players in the dressing room and has often criticized various players of his squad. His club is also struggling in Premier League, sitting at the 7th position and already out of Capital One Cup, fans are also becoming more and more impatient with the Portuguese.

Despite Hughes winning a point for the 19th placed Southampton at Old Trafford, he ended up losing his job soon after the game. Southampton has been far from ordinary this season winning just 1 game.

Hughes joins Slavisa Jokanović, former Fulham manager, as the managers to have been sacked in the Premier League this season so far. Fulham has signed former Leicester City title winning manager Claudio Ranieri as their new leader but Southampton hasn’t found a replacement yet.

Manchester United are facing 4th placed in-form Arsenal in their upcoming Premier League fixture on Wednesday evening at Old Trafford.
