Joan of Ars: With Ozil Departing, Is This Sevilla Playmaker The Answer to The Gunners Creative Problems

Joan Jordan

Mikel Arteta has big problems to solve in the January transfer window, with a modest budget. He has to offload Mesut Ozil and a host of others before they can even contemplate the German’s replacement. According to the latest reports, Sevilla FC midfielder Joan Jordan is being targeted by Mikel Arteta as the solution to his midfield problems.

Joan Jordan is the latest among at least six possible candidates being touted to join Arsenal, but watching the deep playing midfielder reveals just how instrumental the midfielder could potentially be. It’s noticeable that the Sevilla man can pass over distance and that the 26-year-old has a sublime first touch, but he is also a sure foot in a dead ball position and possesses fantastic stamina and energy.

Jordan has the kind of ability to pick out Aubameyang whilst in a blindfold and during heavy fog. Indeed, that was the first thing I thought of when I heard his name mentioned as Ozil’s replacement. Arsenal’s front players have great technique and pace and the Spaniard could well be the conduit that releases the strikers to grab their share of goals.

I suggest you go on YouTube and see for yourself and you’ll instantly note that he is not only an upgrade on Ozil, but Joan Jordan also quashes the suggestions regarding the arrival of Isco, another player struggling to cut it with a big Spanish club. Another player who was recently linked with Arsenal is Riqui Puig of Barcelona.

Just who the Hell is Riqui Puig and why is his Name Linked to Arsenal This January

I’m extremely excited about this rumour but let’s not get carried away, we know how drawn out and laboured Arsenal deals can be. On the subject of Isco, Silent Dave suggested to me before a recent podcast that:

“Arsenal need Isco like a cyclist needs another set of peddles”

It’s another innocent but apt gem from the big man and although he doesn’t say much when he does say something, it’s usually short, concise, and accurate.
