Forget Partey, Jorginho is Looking Very Likely If Time Permits

Jorginho

According to Sky Sports, Jorginho is the latest Chelsea player to have entered the mix this week, linking the midfielder with a transfer to Arsenal. The Gunners’ boss was part of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City set-up that came close to signing the Italian midfielder from Napoli in 2018.

Arsenal have had to change track in their transfer dealings as the reality of their financial position becomes obvious. The quest for Thomas Partey looks to have exhausted all possibilities because of the figures involved and now Arteta is casting an eye elsewhere to bolster his midfield and it appears that Jorginho is the more likely option.

However, there’s a problem which I’ll get to later. Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have invested heavily and there are only so many spaces in a star-studded squad. The numbers don’t add up and although Chelsea would prefer strength and depth, Jorginho might want to cut his losses rather than spend long periods on the bench.

It’s now thought that Chelsea are looking to loan and offload some players with Jorginho assessing his options. Another Chelsea player?

Ibrahim Sangare Crashes The Transfer Partey

Well, that’s another issue but he’s a proven Premier League player with good competitive appetite and excellent distribution skills and he would certainly be an upgrade on Xhaka but at a price estimated to be around £40m plus, what’s the difference with the Partey deal?

This will all be down to Lampard’s and Jorginho’s perspective. If he can’t get regular football in West London, he’ll be off, if not to Arsenal then possibly abroad, but there’s not much in the current valuations. Meanwhile, N‘Golo Kante, another Chelsea outcast, has also been recently linked with a move to North London.
