Jose Mourinho Discusses United’s Title Winning Chances And January Transfer Window As They Face Bournemouth This Saturday

Jose Mourinho sack

Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to make more than one signing in a January transfer window for the first time in 10 years. The last time United announced more than one deal in the January window was in 2009.

The United Manager insisted that he would rather focus on winning games than discussing the January transfer window and the amount of money United board has reportedly approved of. Although, Jose showed interest in recruiting some players in defensive positions, given the results United are obtaining in recent weeks.

Jose in his recent press conference said,

“In this part of the season we play away against possibly the three biggest candidates for the title – Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City – so the calendar was not nice to us.

“But by the end of December, which is the end of the first half of the Premier League, we are not going to be in the position we are now, will be a better position.”

“When you are outside the top four I don’t think you should speak about the title. At this moment we have to focus on ourselves and do better.”

Jose remains keen to bring in a new central defender after failing to acquire one in the summer. United have been linked with Arsenal’s attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who is out of contract in the summer with Arsenal and will be free to talk to other clubs looking to buy him in the January window. Under Woodward, United have done key player signings of Juan Mata, Victor Valdes and Sanchez.

The manager believes Manchester United will soon be in the top four and once there they can consider challenging for the title. United could be backing Jose with 100 million pound kitty this transfer window, trusting him to buy the players which will help the team to secure in the top four position in the league.

United have won just two of their last seven away Premier League games.United are in eighth place with 17 points; two points behind Watford. In their 10 Premier League games this season, United have conceded 17 goals and kept just one clean sheet, a stat which gives a huge headache to Jose; after 10 games last term, they’d conceded just four goals and kept eight clean sheets.

United faces Bournemouth; who are unbeaten in six Premier League home games. Winning the match with big margin will  not only get them to top six spot in premier league table but also will help Jose in terms of confidence and help him to gain the faith of the United Board.
