The much-anticipated new long-term contract for Kieran Tierney at the Emirates Stadium has finally been made official, which comes as a huge boost for the club. The Scotsman had an exceptional season with the Gunners, making 38 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s team in his second full season at the club.
The 24-year-old was a key member of the squad which lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield last year, against all odds. Although the team looked flustered in the recent campaign, Tierney was one of the better players. When Arsenal looked for inspiration, Tierney provided it.
The young defender has penned a new five-year deal with the club.

After recovering from several serious injuries in his first campaign, the Scotland international has made the left-back slot his own in North London. Arsenal supporters now have huge hopes on Tierney, as they see him as someone who can lead from the front as a captain in the near future.

Tying down the former Celtic man was crucial, but the work is far from over. Arsenal still have to be massively “ruthless” in their squad development. There are several weak links in the team such as the attacking midfield position, central defensive midfielder, right-back, and a back-up for Tierney himself. Although the contract extension was a boost, things are far from the finishing line.
