La Liga Giants Make Contact With Alexandre Lacazette Over A Possible Transfer And Its Not Barcelona

After Antoine Griezmann’s announcement of departure, Atletico Madrid are on look-out for their next ace. And according to latest reports, Arsenal‘s Alexandre Lacazette has been identified as a replacement.

Griezmann published a complete documentary last summer to merely announce he has chosen to stay at Atleti. But as we know, eventually he changed his mind. And with Fernando Torres’ switch to the Japanese league coupled with an almost certain departure of Diego Costa, the Spanish giants certainly have a big task of finding a top striker this summer.

Meanwhile, Lacazette has been a long-term target of Atletico. Before his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, he was almost set to make a move to the red side of Madrid until Diego Simeone’s side were put under a transfer ban by UEFA. So it really makes sense they turned their attention back at the Frenchman.

On the other hand, the forward finished the Premier League campaign with 13 goals and 8 assists whilst playing almost as a false No. 9. Though the numbers aren’t as impressive as his fellow French international, considering he was playing in a better league and in a much worse team, he can only improve.

Additionally, according to French outlet Le 10 Sport, the Madrid outfit have already made initial contacts with the player to discuss the prospect of a move.

The Gunners are rumoured to have a humble transfer budget, thus offloading Lacazette in the presence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a good fee could turn out to be positive. With no top striker at the club, Atleti could be pressured into coughing up around £60 million to £70 million.

Moreover, Barcelona have also shown interest in the former Lyon star recently as they look to replace declining Luis Suarez. With that possibility in mind, the Madrid side could make the purchase for a good value.

The North Londoners are in search of a winger and the sale of their No. 9 means Aubameyang would stick to his central role and the funds can be used to bring a wideman.

However, the 27-year-old’s departure seems very unlikely as his side are already looking to offer him a new contract. Additionally, he seems very happy in London and has a great relationship with his teammates.
