Arsenal are once again interested in signing Youri Tielemans in the summer. The Belgian has only one year left on his contract and has already rejected a contract extension. According to The Telegraph, Brendan Rodgers wants to start fresh and build a team again after a poor season. Leicester have set a price tag of £25million for Youri Tielemans, something that is very achievable for Arsenal.
Along with Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu and Ayoze Perez are also in a similar situation, having their contracts expiring next year. In January, Arsenal wanted to sign a midfielder and targeted a few midfielders too. However, their pursuit of both Arthur and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus failed as Tottenham signed Bentancur on deadline day.
Youri Tielemans has been a core member of the Leicester squad ever since he has arrived. He has helped them win the FA Cup in 2021 with his excellent strike from outside the box. He made Leicester City tick in the last season but has faced a dip in form in this campaign along with Leicester’s performances. However, he will bounce back for sure with the right environment around him.

Youri Tielemans is a 24-year-old Belgian midfielder with very good experience in the Premier League. He has a very similar playing style to that of Thiago from Liverpool. Arsenal could use a player like Thiago as he is the one who makes the midfield tick and can link the defence and attack.

Tielemans also contributes defensively, breaking the plays to win the ball back. He is also a very good tackler of the ball and seldom shies away from his defensive duties.

Arsenal have used Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in a double pivot for most of their season. Thomas Partey has been undroppable lately, performing his duties in all the areas of the pitch. Although Xhaka has been impressive this season, Tielemans is a better fit for the number 8 role. He will have a similar role to that of Thiago at Liverpool.
Youri Tielemans can be a regular starter at Arsenal by starting ahead of Xhaka right away. Not only he will provide his quality on the pitch but also gives Arsenal the much-needed squad depth. Xhaka and Tielemans can rotate with both getting enough game time as they will probably be playing in the Champions League next season.

Arsenal are currently knocked out of all the competitions which has helped them to concentrate on the Premier League. However, serious improvement in the squad depth is required if they want to challenge for trophies. There might be other midfielders in better form right now but Youri Tielamans for £25million is an absolute steal for the raw talent and quality he provides.
