4-2-1-3 : Mesut Ozil OUT While Lacazette and Aubameyang Start | With SEVEN Players Ruled out, Strongest Predicted XI Against Liverpool

liverpool, arsenal vs liverpool, Liverpool vs Arsenal

After a disappointing outing against Brighton mid-week, Arsenal head to Anfield for their return fixture against Liverpool that ended in a draw last time around.

December has been a rough patch for the Gunners in recent history and that tradition carries on even now. Players are injured left and right, and make-shift life-ups are becoming a norm.

So how will Unai Emery take his pick tonight ? This is probably how:

Goalkeeper: Bernd Leno

Bernd Leno hasn’t been a bad performer for the side since his debut so it should come as no surprise that he keeps his spot over Petr Cech for the game vs Liverpool.

Defenders: Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Laurent Koscielny, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Sead Kolasinac

With Shkodran Mustafi and Hector Bellerin sidelined due to injury, Koscielny and Maitland-Niles have to step up tonight. And with Stephan Lichtsteiner’s woeful outing against Brighton, he’s not expected to start against Liverpool.

On the other side of the flank, Kolasinac keeps his place deservedly and also due to Nacho Monreal’s injury.

Meanwhile Rob Holding, Kostantinos Mavropanos and Hector Bellerin are all confirmed absentees from the squad with either of them yet to be declared fit despite Mavropanos seen back in training but far short of match fitness as of yet.

Central midfielders: Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira

The fluidity of this partnership has been thoroughly missed for the past few weeks and to dominate a side like the Scousers, they’re pivotal.

Moreover, they showed their capabilities against the Reds last time they faced, so it’s only natural the pair start together against Liverpool.

Attacking midfielder: Aaron Ramsey

Attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey is all set to be recalled into the starting XI with Mesut Ozil expected to be a surprise absentee from the playing XI after not being seem among those travelling for the liverpool game.

Having trained with the squad on Friday night, it is being reported that knee complaint during the training session is what is said to have prompted his withdrawal from the travelling squad for the all important clash at Anfield.

Forwards: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi

The formidable pair of Aubameyang and Lacazette should be starting tonight and hopefully they can keep their form going.

On the other hand, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has yet to put up a decent overall performance this season and further with knee injury having ruled him out for the next six weeks atleast, thus Iwobi is expected to start ahead and will look to make an impact against Allison and Co.

Formation: 4-2-1-3
