EXCELLENT CHOICE | Arsenal ‘very close’ to Signing £27 million AS Roma Magician As Agent Visits London

Lorenzo Pellegrini

Aaron Ramsey‘s departure has left a gaping hole in the Arsenal midfield. But according to reports AS Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini could replace him.

After failing to complete negotiations for a contract extension, Ramsey decided to move on and sign for European giants Juventus. The Welshman leaves the club as Arsenal’s highest goalscoring midfielder, having won 3 FA Cups, scoring in two of the finals.

The former Cardiff star will certainly be a hard figure to replace in the squad. Names like Dennis Praet, Ever Banega and few more have been linked with a move to North London but Pellegrini seems to be another top-drawer target, according to the Mirror.

The Italian will only benefit Unai Emery’s side with his off-the-ball movement and eye for goal. Though may not to the level of Ramsey, but certainly a significant amount. Moreover, being only 22 years old, he can only improve.

The Roma man recorded 4 goals and 7 assists over the course of the previous campaign, making 33 appearances along the way. He could turn out to be a perfect replacement to the Juventus star.

However, one may be put off by the transfer budget Emery has been given because of missing out on Champions League football next season. The Londoners are limited to a rumoured budget of a mere £40 million; almost nothing in the inflated market of today.

Fortunately, however, the Italian international comes with a release clause of £27 million, as per Inside Futbol. Should the Emirates outfit make this deal happen, it could be a massive steal considering how high the ceiling is for the youngster. Furthermore, even with the relatively small price, it is said that the Gunners will be paying for the young midfielder in installments, easing the load on their budget.

There is a reason he became a starter at such a young age and quickly became a fan-favourite. The English giants should definitely make an attempt to sign him if the deal for Praet falls through. Especially with the Italian side already looking to offer Pellegrini a new contract without a buy-out clause, despite his current one expiring only in 2022.
