The injury has given a scare to Arsenal and their fans as he is yet to start a competitive match for them but had a great impact coming off the bench so for, especially in Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Cardiff by providing an assist to Lacazette by a pin point pass which helped Arsenal gain 3 valuable points.
After being heavily linked to Juventus and Liverpool, Lucas Torriera chose the Gunners and completed the switch in summer transfer window. In his Sampdoria days he came as an attacking midfielder but was converted into an defensive midfielder, which helped the team gain defensive stability and the 22 year old is also known to find more space and complete some complex passing moves which gained him the tag of a deep underlying midfielder.
Lucas Torriera also has the ability to score some impressive goals which include some out of the box stunners and also scoring from the set pieces making him the complete package and what exactly the Gunners are looking for.
Speaking of Lucas Torriera, new boss Emery said to arsenal.com,
“I have enjoyed watching his performances for Sampdoria in the past two seasons, and we all saw him do very well for Uruguay in the World Cup. He is a young player already with good experience, but who wants to keep on growing. “
This reported injury has came at very wrong time for the Gunners as he was looking to make an impact and was gaining Emery’s confidence to start in the playing XI, after coming off the bench in last four matches. Arsenal and Emery are still struggling to find their best team. Lucas Torriera and Xhaka seem to be the perfect pair that Arsenal were looking for, both tactically and in fan’s view but this injury seem to delay the pivot to start for the Gunners in the coming time.
Though there has been no official reports released by both Arsenal and Uruguay stating the amount of time Lucas Torriera will be sidelined, but according to reports, the injury is minimal but the midfielder is sure to miss the game against Newcastle and might be available before the first Europa League Group fixture, thus adding more time in the wait for Arsenal fans to see the Uruguayan International starting for the Club.

In my opinion, Lucas Torreira is not only a future investment but also has the ability to be a vital part of the team. He is known to be very poised, and has the ability to draw some ankle-snapping but fair tackles. Arsenal had a particular style of play under Wenger, but after Wenger stepping aside and Emery stepping in, a player with such caliber, skills, and style of play would make the transition smooth in terms of style of play and bring a much needed stability to the current Arsenal squad.
Lucas Torriera is known to use the ball very well and finding his teammates with pin-point passes. His game compliments other players in the team which gives the attacking department license to kill mentality in front of the goal. The Independent’s Jack Austin said,
“Torreira is exactly the kind of no-nonsense midfielder the club have been craving”
Signing Lucas Torriera has surely made Arsenal fans happy but starting him more regularly will help drastically with stability Gunners need.
There’s no doubt Lucas Torriera has been a great purchase for Arsenal and the injury might have delayed his first start for the Gunners but with season going ahead, he is sure going to be a pivotal element for Arsenal this season.
