Luke Shaw has often been openly criticized by manager Jose Mourinho and till the start of pre season it looked like Shaw’s future was destined away from United. But the 23 year old has recently cleared all doubts over his relationship with the Portuguese, revealing that Jose has texted him over the summer.
This is positive news for United camp who are struggling to sign their primary targets in this transfer window, most recently with Maguire.

Luke Shaw has recently revealed his text message conversation with club manager Jose Mourinho, which has given him more positive reasons to work hard for upcoming season.
“I spoke with the manager about a week after the holidays”, Shaw said.
“I was in Dubai and he texted me and we had a really good chat. It made me feel really confident about the upcoming season and that’s why I worked really hard. It was a breath of fresh air when he texted me.
I wasn’t expecting it. I was on my phone and I got the text. I spoke to him and it was really positive, really good”.
“It was funny. I was just on my phone flicking through stuff.
I got the text and i accidentally clicked on it straightaway. He’s probably thinking ‘Jesus Christ’!. But that wasn’t the case.
I said to my girlfriend,’F**k, I’ve just opened it and I must look so weird now’. It was fine.
I left it a little bit to reply because I didn’t want to seem too eager. We’ve had this conversation. He said that he knows that I can be the best, but he sometimes feels frustrated that i’m not doing that”.
“He knows what I can do. That was one of the things he sent me in the off-season.
‘I know what you can do. You can be the best but you’ve just got to work on a couple of things’. That’s why it pushes me on more. He says these things because he knows I can do it. he know I can be a top player.
He knows I can play for Manchester United. It’s horrible at times because people only see those he says. That’s fine because i’m a grown man and I can take stuff like that I’m used to it.
But the stuff inside the training ground, no one sees apart from me. It still gives me confidence”.
This is great news for the Red Devils at it shows that Luke Shaw will definitely be at United this season. 23 years old has started all 3 of United’s pre-season games and this is a sign of better things to come. Luke Shaw will be first choice left back as United’s other options are Ashley Young and Diogo Dalot.
Ashley young is not getting any younger and is currently out injured. 19 years old Diogo Dalot is recently signed and still finding his feet at the top level of European football. But both Young and Dalot are makeshift left backs as Young is naturally winger and Dalot is right back. Shaw may find new challenge this season as United are recently linked with big money move for Juventus left back Alex Sandro.
Luke Shaw most definitely will start United’s first Premier League game of the season against Leicester City on 11th August. This kind of competition for each spot is good for whole United squad as it creates an atmosphere of friendly competition in the dressing room which is always a positive sign.
Age is also on Luke Shaw’s side and this window of opportunity that has opened up for him due to Ashley Young’s injury could turn his career around at United. Luke Shaw could finally cement his place in the starting lineup under Mourinho and fulfill the potential that he has always possessed.
